Although the PSD format was orginally created for Photoshop, there are other applications capable of opening, manipulating, and saving PSD files. Microsoft Paint is not one of them though.

Neat guide, but do you have the same file available for Paint.NET users? Or can you at least give me the resolutions so I can guess at it?

Try this plug-in to open PSD files in Paint.NET.

Hell, I don't know. I don't use Paint.NET. I found multiple sites linking to that plug-in though, and I didn't catch any negative posts about it.
