Day 2 let's go!
EVO 2014 Preview, Streams & Schedule (July 11-13) Live from Las Vegas! Plus What is EVO? And Japanese USF4 tier list!
Vergil Zero Doom Counter is rising. Don't sleep on 8 sabrewulfs for top 8 either.
Jwong bodying people on the KI stream whilst Christ G murders people on the marvel stream. Chris G might win almost every major every year but Jwong has won every KI tourney since the dawn of man.
If only Koji could play triple Thawk in Marvel.
Don't usually like watching Marvel vs Capcom 3 streams (mainly because I can't follow everything that's going on and the stream just pixelates so much). But the two broadcasters they currently have on are pretty good with the information they are feeding out and good to listen to.
Nice job two the unique combo with the guy and girl (sorry haven't seen their names pop up again on screen in awhile).
Edit: Also that PR Balrog match where he came back after the guy paused. I feel so bad for that other dude. They gotta make joysticks where you can literally remove the start button from the joystick lol.

KOFXIII is on this stream, it'll transfer over to srkevo1 for the top 8 finals in 1hour 50 mins as of this post.
@esrever: It's certainly much more watchable than it was last year, excellent character variety in the top 8.
@cloudyimpulse: Skisonic (Christian Sutton) and IFC Persia (Samantha Hancock, Yipes' GF might be fiance now I think)
@esrever: I dont play the game IGAU but doesn't Hawkgirl have a lot of bad matchups?
@fredchuckdave: Thats true, it was a lot more enjoyable to watch than last years. Seems like the patches did some good for its scene.
Great job Injustice community, hype top 8!
Raiden announced for MKX, his movelist looks like the MK Deception intro!
KOFXIII finals top 8 next, come hang out in the Giant Bomb chat!
Chat is working fine! For us at least.
Chat is working fine! For us at least.
Chat has always been iffy for me. Sometimes I get in. And sometimes I get a message saying I'm in a queue (and not to refresh). And then I wait and never get in for like an a couple of hours. I've tried reporting the issue before, but not even sure if they're even looking at the issue. It's not working for me today.
Only other problem I have with KOF and Marvel vs Capcom 3, is that so many people year after year just use the same characters for there team of 3. I'm hoping to see a bigger variety of characters used.
I want to see some Terry, Andy, Mature, Vice, Leona, Mai, Elisabeth, Robert and Billy Kane. Keepin those fingers crossed.
so many latin american flags...... I am crying tears of pride..... this is my world cup.
LOL.
For fighting games, I've never cheered for anyone because of where they're from (even if their American). Always choose it match by match to see who's using the least played character and cheer for that person to win. And when that doesn't happen, I just watch to hopefully see something amazing.

me neither, just listening too many friends talking about World Cup and national pride and all. I like this more because growing up in NJ never meet a single Latino who loved fighting games and especially KoF. Just feels like I'm not in a niche.
KoF again demonstrating its awesomeness at EVO, but will the potential Fei Long vs Fei Long match tomorrow upstage it!?
SUPER TURBO NEXT BEST GAME
STREET FIGHTER 2!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!
I tuned in just in time to see M3's Mao taking the SSFII Turbo tournament point and hamming it up for the camera. Awesome.
Was very funny during some of the earlier matches as well staring into the camera. That Vega/Balrog of his looked freakishly difficult to deal with.
We all know that Harada has an announcement before the Ultra grand finals tomorrow. Well tonight on the Tekken Casino stream he was on there having money matches, in addition he talked about the next Tekken game.
He said the roster was going to be smaller than previous games ending up at around 40. It's going to probably be a solo game (no tag action), and that it will be easier for newcomers.
Not sure if this means Tekken x Street Fighter or the actual new Tekken game. All of those comments could be used to describe Tekken Revolution as well (solo, less characters, easier for newcomers because of critical arts with invincibility frames). Tomorrow's going to be interesting.
Edit: So...someone apparently fucked up real bad in the bring your own console area, and a lot of folks on twitter and elsewhere mention seeing a Tekken 7 logo. RIP Tekken x Street Fighter.
TxSF nooooo :( Oh well, a new Tekken on new hardware is super exciting either way! Tag 2 still looks rather gorgeous considering what it's running on and the framerate and post processing etc.
If they do make it easier for newcomers, I'll be interested to see how. Tekken is kind of bizarre, because from the standpoint of somebody completely uninitiated, it's probably one of the easier games to just jump into. You can just mash out some strings and do combos without having to worry about links or unfamiliar directional inputs and you don't have worry about meter etc. But then high level Tekken is maybe the most complicated fighting game out there. Every character has moves numbering in the hundreds, all the stages are different shapes and sizes and you need that situational awareness to recognise distance and angle to walls and adapt combos to factor in that or things like balcony, floor and wall breaks etc, you have so many wake up options, yadda yadda yadda, and on it goes. I think that gulf between beginner and high level play might be bigger than any other fighting game.
So I guess I wonder if a) that actually needs to change and b) how do you do it without diverging too hard from what Tekken actually is.
But the real question we're all obviously asking ourselves is if JayCee is here to stay or does OG Julia come back. Obviously.
I'd also just like to point out that between Itazan, Hungbee and Koji, I believe T Hawk was equal with Fei (and maybe Rufus? I'm not sure if Haitani used him in top 32) for most appearances in Top 32 of Ultra. Who'd have ever thought we'd see that day? KONDORU SUPAIYAA!! T Hawk is like a fine wine, getting better as the game ages. ST is the ultimate proof of that.
Apparently this is the Evo exclusive 40th character for the chibi Street Fighter Sanwa buttons/balltops... hype?
...Amazing.
Hm, I predicted N-O.
That's a lot of tears to start the last day. Dogura's girlfriend weeping it up off stage as well.

@esrever: I totally agree that, that 4 stock pikachu win was amazing. But normally I don't find the game is a hype as that was.
Does anyone else find competitive Smash to be super boring?
I normally don't find Smash that entertaining. I like seeing the more unconventional characters (pikachu, jiggly, ice climbers) being used and seeing the upsets they can cause. The cast this year seems pretty diverse and not just fox/falco mirrors. Its pretty easy to get your fill off this game with one event though.
That said, I find this a lot more entertaining than what was the KI Top8. I already don't like watching that game, and the top8 was mostly just shutouts with jwong being the only competitor putting up a fight. (Please note I am not saying the game is bad, I just don't enjoy it as a spectator, and yes, I do understand the game)
