I'll wait when the videos are posted on GB, not gonna go out of my way to sit through "awards" for video games when the only one that matters is the Northie Award
I find it absolutely ridiculous that they've nominated games that aren't even released yet. I don't care if the judges have already played them. Can you imagine if the AMPAS nominated films for the Best Picture Oscar that had only been privately shown to the judges? I think it just demonstrates how much of a joke criticism and awards still are in the gaming industry. It all smacks of PR and hype overriding a genuine merit system. Definitely not an award ceremony I will be watching or supporting, that's for sure.

Because, if anything, it's damaging the credibility of video game awards. As video games begin to be taken more seriously as an entertainment/art form a legitimate and notable award ceremony could be a great benefit. But the Spikes are anything but that. They're the VMAs of gaming, but sadly they're also probably the most prominent gaming awards. Which doesn't speak well for the industry as a whole imo.

I'm really surprised not to see Dead Space 2 there for GOTY. That game was pretty baller, in my books. Hopefully, the fact that it came out 9 or so months ago doesn't make it completely forgettable.
Of all the games I've played this year, the only one to surprise and actually, shall I say, DELIGHT me was Portal 2. It's surprising since even though I kinda liked the original, I really, really hate Valve's games in general and hate to have to put up with the Source engine. But that game would get my nomination so far.
That is, until I find out if Skyward Sword or Uncharted 3 are really all that. Not even kind of interested in Skyrim, Dark Souls is intriguing but not GOTY material, Dead Space 2 was a serious disappointment, and Arkham City wasn't as good as Asylum. My money's on Skyward Sword or Portal 2. At least, personally, that's where I'm leaning.
This is going to be a very hard year to make a top 10 list for. I can't even think of 5 games I'd want to put on that list. Last year was super hard to decide on...
No Gears 3 for GOTY? I'm just sad because i think it's the best game thats come out this year. Portal 2 is just soooo over-hyped imo, did people really like the underground section when all you had to do is scan the walls for the one little patch of portable surface. Not to mention the game was only like 5 hours long and it still felt too long at that.
Couldn't care less about the VGA's but I guess the reveals are pretty cool although I don't care for Alan Wake or Metal Gear Rising. And I must agree with Alex that the most anticipated game award is a pretty hilarous category.
O and Uncharted 3 is gonna win that other award type thing cause its all just based on the score GT gives them.
Sorry but I have not watched Spike VGA for years. It had potential at first to be great but they decided to just make it not appealing to actual gamers at all.
Its just one big ad campaign, with non game players "celebrities" all the time (well a lot of, I know Jack Black plays video games and whats her name from The Guild and whatnot, but these celebrities are few and far between). I know sometimes they try and get legit, but unless they have actual voice actors like Nolan North or Jim Cummings nominated (just sayin') they don't really care about giving credible video game awards.
Hopefully alan wake 2 will come to PC the first one looked really cool but judging from the gameplay it looked repetitive as shit needs to be more open world with alot more variety I'll be sure not to watch this shitty show though.
On MGS:R, if it's as good as they say, it'll be one the only games I buy solely based on the proof of concept. I have never played a MGS game so I'm really hoping Kojima's Rising does it for me.
