"The PlayStation 3 is getting a new anime channel today. Viz Media announced that the app, which is called Neon Alley, will offer 24-hour programming for anime fans directly through their Sony home consoles. A report on Destructoid indicates that Viz will be providing content from its own library, as well as anime from outside distributors. Shows will be uncut and uncensored, and Viz expects to incorporate HD programming. The anime will feature English-language dubs, which may upset a few fans of Japanese subtitles. If you’re like me, though, it probably won’t bother you too much. Neon Alley offers monthly subscriptions for $6.99, though you can sign up for a free one-week trial. To clear up any confusion, it should be noted that this is not a streaming service like Crunchyroll. As a channel, Neon Alley offers scheduled programming. If you’re interested, you can check it out right through the PlayStation Network."

Sounds awesome! Can't wait to try out the free trial.

I would pay for this if it weren't for this "The anime will feature English-language dubs, which may upset a few fans of Japanese subtitles."

Eh,that's what Crunchyroll is for, subtitled animes.I personally like dubbed anime so this is a huge win for me.I wonder if this will be big for a lot of other people.

Sticking with Crunchyroll, but nice to see more anime all the same.

That is a great idea in theory. In practice it come down to which shows they get.

Why would I want to watch scheduled programming in the modern on-demand age, I thought we were past this.

I think the problem with scheduled programming in anime is that so much of it is in a serial format whereas one episode's story continues in the next. Missing an episode can leave you confused and reluctant to continue. Anime should be "on demand" style so that you can view a season or so at your own pace and not miss anything because you were doing something else when a show aired.

I don't care for dubs anymore, but when I started watching anime, 99% of it was dubs so I have nothing against the alteration. Whatever creates more fans is fine by me.

I already put my money on Crunchyroll and prefer subtitles. As nice as the idea sounds and as much as I'd like to support it, I doubt I'd even be able to watch it much with my schedule now. I didn't even bring my PS3 from my parents' residence yet with how busy I am at school, and even at school I'm barely home their.
