I'm aware of the grammatical mistakes on b would change it if I could.
For me it's typically a the one time it was b is San Andreas. I hated, truly loathed the plane driving parts.
A relevant gaming poll: What makes you quit games you enjoy?
Timed Missions for sure. God damnit, get your truck out of my way! is what one may experience when racing for time in GTA or the likes.
I couldn't get into Dead Rising because of the timed quests. I just wanted to run around and kill zombies.
i dont mind driving missions as long as they are done well
same with time limits
but when they are done bad the time limits make me want to kill my self
If it's a good game, nothing really puts me off of it to the point I would quit. I do have a distaste for timed sections in games that aren't specifically designed for them though.
I've seen this poll and thread before.
And not enough options?!
Where's Dante's Inferno's "Do a combo until the time ends", or "Do a combo streak of this number" missions?
If I'm really enjoying the game then I'll almost never just quit it, the only thing which I could think would really make me leave the game is if I got really distracted by a game I was enjoying more, which has happened in the past. Out of those two options the one I dislike most though is timed missions, they make me feel restricted.
i hate mandatory timed missions, but not as much as mandatory stealth missions in a game not built for stealth
The only thing that will keep me from playing a game I otherwise enjoy is if the game in question is a timesink. For example, I love the Total War and Civilization games, but they take wayyyyy too long to play. This also goes for a lot of JRPGs and MMOs for me as well.
The asteroid shooting part of Dead Space made me quit but I did come back to it. Man, that part had my blood pressure through the roof.
Other "shinier" games being released and finding their way into my hands. I get distracted...easily.
I don't quit because of it, but I hate timed missions with a passion. They can all suck and die.
Driving/Racing missions can suck if they're done poorly (or impossibly, I'm looking at you Vice City, you and that stupid mission to get a driver. Fuck you, I used "Cars Fly" and drove really slowly), but I'm fine with them most of the time (GTA IV, San Andreas were fine, except those "Life's A Beach" and "Lowrider" missions, I never fully restarted because of them, just have a save after LAB that I use to "restart").
But it is a pretty narrow poll. Should have at least had "Other".
" @sopranosfan said:good luck I was just happy to finish it at all I can't imagine trying to have 50% health." The asteroid shooting part of Dead Space made me quit but I did come back to it. Man, that part had my blood pressure through the roof. "Oh that part pissed me off. I want to get the trophy for completing that with over 50% health. Wish me luck lol. "
A sudden and crushing loss of progress can piss me off into not playing a great game for a long time.
It just happened with the wonky save/autosave in Just Cause 2. Basically, a mission abort, then a load, followed by an immediate autosave caused me to lose over four hours worth of missions and exploration.
Needless to say, I'm taking a break from that game for a while.
Out of those things, I hate timed missions for the most part. Driving/Racing missions are ok in my book.
