So I was looking at the achievements list for FairyTale Fights  (Yeah, I know)
And after realizing it's almost impossible to get 1000/1000 in that game I see that one guy has done it, So I go to his profile because i want to ask him how he did it (you may have to delete all save data) and when I get there I notice this on his achievement page

Now maybe it's just me, But something seems a little off here.....
How do you unlock 287 achievements an hour for 48 straight hours?
You Wreck....   I guess
Almost 1/2 a million gamer score,
I get voice banned for being an ass,
And this guy hacks 1/2 a million gamer score

I don't really care, If he finds it fun to cheat his way to the top.... Good for him,  it doesn't take away from my enjoyment
But I really don't understand how cheating on this scale can slip right by Microsoft for over a month.
What's your opinion here?

#6 Posted by Hamz (6846 posts) -

This is brilliant. Five years roughly and Microsoft still have this crap going on, would have thought by now they would tighten the security and the systems in place would be improved.

Dunno why, but your tone and that line above really made me laugh.
Also, you're back to your old avatar!

Sheesh guys, he's just super cool pro ok?

But seriously, show casing that kinda stuff around the net is pretty foolish right? Won't he be banned if he's reported for it, or do they not care about stuff like that?

Give the guy the benefit of a doubt.  He probably has a team of chinese factory workers unlocking achievements for him.  Sometimes it's better to think before we judge.

The setup is retarded,
You need to beat the entire game, start to finish on each difficulty while playing single player only to get one set
Then,  You need to beat the entire game, start to finish on each difficulty while playing multi player only to get another set
If you bring a second player into your single player game for even one level or drop to one player for a level in your multi game
YOUR FUCKED
And you literally have to delete you whole save data and start over, And even once you finish doing one of those 2 you have to delete your save data so you can start the second one, And if that were'nt bad enough there are achievements for getting an A or A+ in every level of the game, BUT you have to get those all in a row, You can't go back and redo it later, You only get one shot or guess what?
DELETE that save data again,
And all this deleting makes other achievements a bitch to get like killing 250 enemies with this weapon and that weapon & Drinking 1000 potions,
That's hard to get when you have to reset your save data,
Oh and I almost forgot to mention almost NONE of your stats that mean anything toward achievements are tracked. Not your kills, not your ranks, Nothing.

But other than that, It's a fun game....  No, Really it is

I could delete all my registered users from the giantbomb achivement page and re-add them and it would go "ZeForgotten unlocked X achivements in 0 seconds" too.
But yeah, that does seem kinda fishy

Equating how good a game is based on how stupid/hard/redundant it's achievements are seems like a really bad way to tell the quality of the game.

Online achievements when no one is playing online. Also, when you have an online achievement with no date or getting all the achievements of the game in one day are also signs of hacking.

This. So many people take a lot of time out to complain about cheaters, hackers, racist remarks, etc. but never bother to report them. Just do it, people. Microsoft reviews these things and takes appropriate action. People also complain that Microsoft doesn't do enough to stop it, but how much more can and should they do? How much more can they secure things before it starts to intrude on the way legit gamers play? If you see something that bothers you and is against the terms of service, report it. Complaining in a forum or on twitter or to your friends does nothing. Let Microsoft know, they'll take a look.
#27 Posted by Crackdown76 (32 posts) -
@Hamz: It doesn't really matter what they do. Someone with always figure out a way to hack it. The iPad was hacked within 24 hours of release. People get off on that stuff.
#28 Posted by Gamer_152 (14098 posts) -

I do find it amazing that this kind of thing can go by Microsoft completely unnoticed although I do remember a lot of blatant achievement hacking which went on with Halo 3 at one time and Microsoft didn't do anything about it.

#30 Posted by ch13696 (4582 posts) -

Who cares? If he hacks achievements then so what. Now, if he starts cheating in online games then that's something else. Besides it's not that hard. All you have to do is take the hard drive out of the casing, hook it up to your computer, get a saved file hack program, then you're on your way. I don't blame Microsoft for not banning him. Achievement hacking is pointless. It doesn't piss anyone off.

So, come back to me when you find out that this guy is cheating online.

I was referring to the date that GWFL or Xbox live gives to the achievements individually. That comes from the xbox website and nothing to do with Giant bomb.

Yes it loads them all up on one day, The first update only, but the date / time of each achievement is stored by XBL, Gaining an achievement while offline shows no date.
And if you look in the first post you'll see that there are two separate updates two days apart.  So those 16,000 achievements would have to of been done in those two days.

And if Microsoft determines he hacked for his Achievements, his gamerscore gets reset to 0, his profile is publicly labeled as a cheater, and he gets banned.
#43 Posted by xyzygy (10062 posts) -

It doesn't matter because you can tell when someone hacks or not. I have a friend who has nothing but 1000/1000 in every game on his list and it's so obvious that he hacked them all. I just disregard them.

My guess is that it creates an overflow in the local memory, probably by inserting code directly into the active data - like the old  "Action Replay" cards gave you unlimited whatever - but of course a bit more complicated and devious.
