How have four people posted in this thread without acknowledging the hobo hat, chops, and chinstrap? This is Giant Bomb, right?

I was going to post this, but I always figure someone will beat me to it.

I like the point he makes about being back with all of the real former TechTV group, but what I really wish Leo Laporte had taken the initiative to throw him in as the head of his own gaming show on TWiT (severely lacking since the Cards Against Humanity debacle ended the only gaming show on the network).

Patrick Norton is a frequent guest on TWiT and a gamer, so it would give them a chance to actually work together on the same show for the first time.

@Nightriff: Revision3 has been around for a long time. It's basically a collection of people that were sent packing when Tech TV changed over to G4.

A fairly short time after TechTV dissolved into G4. For awhile, it felt like the spiritual successor until priorities shifted and then they were bought by Discovery.

To be more exact: since 2005.

That's one of those crazy dream scenarios of mine. I've always been a huge fan of Adam since his initial days on ZDTV. My respect only grew with his more open conversations through Sessler's Soapbox videos on G4's website. I feel like he's been the shining light on all the fairly shitty iterations of the TV shows he's been a part of. I'd have loved to see him as part of my favorite website about video games, but it was never going to be a reality.

I've always liked Rev3 probably my second most visited area of the net after GB. Stoked to see Sessler's joined the crew. Also his relocation to SF may lead to more Bombcast guest appearances. One can hope.

I'd really been hoping for ages that he'd come to GiantBomb and fill that hole that even this amazing crew is leaving open. He'd bring a strong needed element to this place. I shouldn't be surprised that Revision3 picked him up, though. I just hope they let him produce quality content and that he focuses on his in-depth and insightful commentary and discussions rather than the glossy over-produced cheese that everyone else does (especially on TV). The man is one of the most articulate, thoughtful, intelligent, even-keeled people in gaming and it's delightful to hear him discuss just about anything where the topic is concerned. Fuck, I'd *pay* for it. As long as Rev3 doesn't turn him into the same kind of frat-boy trash all of their other shows are (with very few exceptions), this will be amazing.

Seriously, though, CBS should have snapped him up for GiantBomb. Despite his great reputation, I feel he is still the single most undervalued guy in the game.

I haven't watched a ton (because I stopped watching anything Rev3 puts out, at least three years ago), but what I've seen is pretty typical stuff. A couple people standing on a set spewing out a few blurbs from the news with some awkward back and forth for fifteen minutes. Well-produced, but . . . nothing particularly special. Sessler could make me finally subscribe to something from Rev3 again.

Oh, awesome! I like the Rev3 crew. I actually watched all the archived footage of their 24 hour extra life stream. Former Whiskey Media intern and Anime Vice contributor, , is at Rev3 these days, too.

You should give them another look. Their coverage may not be super deep, but their games line up is pretty good these days between Anthony Carboni, Max Scoville, and now Sessler.

Anyone else find it...odd that he's now championing community interaction? He always acted like responding to viewer mail and interacting with forums was a soul sucking experience on G4.

Is this the same Revision 3 that work with many Youtubers (like Philip De Franco) or is the Revision 3 Games section completely different (like specialising in content exclusive to their site)?

Yes, it's the same Revision3 of Kevin Rose / Digg fame that took to promoting crappy youtubers and doing that show about eating giant amounts of crap or whatever. That's the main problem I've found with their offerings in the last few years. They went from generating interesting original content (they had a nice little cooking show with this british dude, once) to just promoting the same shitty youtube crap I can get on youtube, already.

I thought their only game content was the daily Destructoid show? Maybe I'll have to look into the other stuff. I had completely forgotten about Carboni going over there, though. His podcast was pretty decent.

Not that it invalidates your point (I happen to agree with you) but it's pretty well-known that Revision3 had cashflow issues for a long time. The entire reason Co-Op got replaced with the live version before completely going away was because it was too expensive for Rev3 to produce. It's hard to expand and keep going for good talent when said talent comes with a price, whereas any chucklehead on Youtube will do it for a song.

@Hailinel: Yep, Revision 3 has been around for quite some time. A lot of Tested's past and recent Octoberkast guests (Roger Chang, Patrick Norton, Veronica Belmont) work in Revision3. Rev3Games as far as I can tell, was a more recent addition but they've had game shows for quite some time. It's kind of a happy reunion though since he'll be working with his former TechTV colleagues over there.

Leo Laporte has made it very clear on Twitter that he will not have former G4 employees that stayed with the company after the TechTV merger on TWiT. Actually he's been kind of a jerk when making this point clear to his fans like when he said he'd never have Adam Sessler or Kevin Perreria on TWiT because they were "forever tainted by G4," which he immediately deleted and replaced with:

I could have sworn he was gonna wind up at Polygon. Especially if he's back in San Francisco!

That said, when I said that, I had no idea this site existed and all these former TechTV guys had taken refuge there. And As someone mentioned that Rev3 has had cashflow problems before, let's hope that this gives them the bump they need to really hit the ground running!

Otherwise, well, maybe Adam will wind up at Polygon or Giant Bomb in the long run anyways.

@Little_Socrates: Polygon doesn't make sense, because they don't produce any substantial video content, which is Adam's interest.

@ZombiePie: That is extra-shitty. People have to get paid, too. Sometimes you take what you can get, and if a bunch of people get laid off and you weren't picked, that's luck and you should hang onto it for at least awhile.

Well, but they've said they would like to produce video content in the future, and it'd be smart to have someone as talented as him in charge if it's ever going to be substantial. They obviously have the equipment, based on Cooperatives using decent cameras, greenscreen sets, and footage.

Rev3 is in need of good, fresh content. I've known about their site since 2007 and the shows I pay attention to are the same: Tekzilla and the Totally Rad Show. Diggnation and CO-OP were great but were cancelled, and they don't host Epic Meal Time anymore.

It still doesn't make sense. Adam typically only worked with a small number of people. Polygon is basically a ridiculous, dream-team powerhouse. He would probably just get shuffled in with everybody else, and with huge names already leading up the site, it doesn't really fit with what Adam is doing. And while I like Polygon, Adam isn't interested in super-serious commentary, (more like light-hearted commentary), and that's kind of what Polygon is going for. Good site, but not a good fit.

adam sessler and some totally rad show then?

I haven't been on Rev3 since diggnation stopped, or is it on again? I don't know anything anymore. Or ever.

Also Adam Sessler is great and I'm glad he's somewhere cool.
