Whiskey Team,

I am very thankful you guys have videos in 720p, and I would be content with it not being in higher resolution for a bit longer.  However, one thing I would like with my paid membership would be 5.1 audio.

I often view my Whiskey videos on the media center and it sounds weird coming out of one or two speakers.  I know it's not really needed, and I know it would take up time...but it would be pretty sweet.  If not 5.1, I'd be happy with an upgrade to higher resolution video too.  >.>

Keep the commentary in the central speakers while the game runs through the other 4.

That's all.

Thankee sai.

EDIT:  Podcasts in 5.1 would be nice too, it'd be sweet to hear each person out each speaker and that shouldn't be as hard.

There are now five members of Giant Bomb (Drew is very rarely on, so he doesn't count :S) so their idea of doing the podcast in 5.1 and each person having their own speaker is now valid.

Get on it!

If you only had commentary through the central speaker and had game sound in the other 4 they would be drowned out....

Oh shit forgot about the podcasts too.  yeah, make the podcasts in 5.1 too!  I listen to those in the living room most of the time anyway.

@Doctorchimp: Volume balance it out.  Or put the commentary on the rear speakers.

Seems like it might be a lot of work and/or additional hardware purchases required to do something that at most like 5 people want.

This seems like a lot of work for a small team to produce. I wouldn't count on it. They do a lot as it is.

mixing into 5.1 is extremely easy, to be fair.  it can be done in about 20 minutes with (i'm assuming) each personality having their own track

the better question is if it's worth the time?  most users won't ever take advantage of a 5.1 mix

Dedicate the sub-woofer channel to Brad for the bombcast.

No. Netflix and Hulu+ don't even offer 5.1 on PC.

Uh... how about you conduct a poll to see how many people watch videos or listen to podcasts on consoles. It'll be infinitesimally small.
