I played a ton of roller coaster tycoon and its sequel as a kid, and today i kinda had a itch to play it again and thought about grabbing it off amazon for 10 bucks. But i am wondering if there are any more recent options that are actually good, never played the third one but i dont care much for the 3d style it took. I'll take the question one step further tho and ask if theirs and decent city sims or anything of the sort now days. It really seems to be a dead genre and that saddens me.

Sim Golf, it's pretty old though.

Roller Coaster Tycoon was the best game I ever got in a cereal box.

The third rollercoaster tycoon is fannnntastic. You can even ride all of your rides, add in custom music and even import your own images to create your own theme. Look at some vids of the roller coasters people made on YouTube.

As a sim, it's okay, but as a theme park builder, it's the best.

Rollar Coaster Tycoon 2 is the peak of Theme Park simulation for me.

I only ever played Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, but it was really great and would probably totally hold up today.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 had to be the last good theme park sim. I miss the tycoon era of PC gaming even if there were only a handful of good ones.
