I guess it isn't a series really but someone needs to make a new Breakdown game. Maybe Otogi as well, that would be crazy on next gen.
Any series that you feel should get a new installment?
I'll try to think of some more random franchises I'd like to see..
- Vigilante 8 - Loved this game more than Twisted Metal 2.
- Ecco The Dolphin
- Project Gotham Racing
- Shutoku Battle/Kaido Battle Series - (Tokyo Xtreme Racer series in the US) Genki unfortunately doesn't seem to be making console games anymore. Loved this series. Newest and last one was called "Import Tuner Challenge" for the X360, wasn't as good as the PS2 era ones.
- Endless Ocean - Please put on PS4 and not Wii-U only. Next gen graphics for an underwater game would be fantastic. Hence the Ecco suggestion.
- Stuntman - Original for PS2 was pretty awesome. The PS3/X360 sequel was not very good from what I remember. This would be a great game to show off physics and vehicle destruction.
- Splashdown - Could be a great show piece for new fancy water graphics and physics.
- Midtown Madness - The second one was fantastic. People remember Microsoft's "The Zone" online match making service? lol Midtown Madness 3 was kinda lame.
- Top Gear - I'd like a lower budget $10-20 remake of the old SNES games. Awesome music and great sense of speed.
- Rise of Nations - Really liked the original. But I kinda want to keep the sprite based graphics and not do the real simplified blocky 3D units that modern RTS games do. Just makes super good looking sprites. Add weather effects or other weird new stuff.
- Age of Empires - AoE2 was awesome. Classic. Same stuff I wrote as Rise of Nations
Not sure if considered a franchise but add:
- Tourist Trophy - Fun game. The only motorcycle games these days are Moto GP I guess and those are just race bikes. Tourist Trophy, like Gran Turismo, was a more general enthusiast level stuff. Included mostly sporty street bikes from various years.
- Mini Ninjas - Little game that came out on current gen consoles that I assume most people didn't look at. Good fun simple traditional action/adventure/platform game. Kinda like I-Ninja was.
Fair amount of race games lol. Obviously I could throw in more obvious ones like and Command & Conquer game that doesn't suck. A new F-Zero game. Super Mario Galaxy. B&K: Nuts and Bolts was fun. New Metroid game (bonus points if its made as a side scroller, maybe 2.5D).
Probably more I could think of but enough for now.
Classic Castlevania. You know, like on the NES, SNES, Genesis and PC Engine (called the Turbografx-16 in the U.S. but that game didn't come out over here). There was Castlevania Chronicles on the PSX, that was the last oldschool one and it was a remake of the original. Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP was great too; it had Rondo of Blood from the PC Engine, and a remake of that.
Star Control II. The devs want to put out a sequel but have been busy making skylanders...
Age of Empires. 3 didn't do the series justice.
Warcraft. Not the MMO, I mean the real old RTS series. Though I'm sure that'll be the next non-expansion that Blizzard puts out.
Dune II. Just for lulz
If done properly I would love to see a new SOCOM harking back to the SOCOM 2 routes. And a new Twisted Metal also made similar to TM2.
I'll combine that into a wish for a sequel to DeathDrome, a PC multiplayer vehicular combat game made by Zipper Interactive (the SOCOM guys) back in 1996.
The Strike Series (Desert, Jungle, Urban strike games)
Ecco the Dolphin
Alex Kidd
Shining Force
Streets of Rage
This is quickly turning into a one-hit wishlist, not a franchise revival.
My gone-too-long franchise is Rogue Squadron. But if I could have any sequel right now, it would be a toss up for Skies of Arcadia 2, or DQH:Rocket Slime 2.
And not some handheld crap like the 3rd birthday give me another Parasite Eve II
Parasite Eve II-2? Yeah ok, but first Dino Crisis 1.5!
Easy. The World Ends With You. It is the most interesting game SE has ever made. Yet here we are with no sequel in sight about a half a dozen FF and Kingdom Hearts releases since it came out.
I will also echo the true Breath of Fire statements.
Also Capcom needs to throw the Megaman franchise some kind of bone.
Also any Sega game with a Chao Garden needs to happen. This doesn't have to be a Sonic game. I'm not really sure if the Sonic franchise was ever any good but the one thing I do know was the Chao Garden was pure gold. I would pay pretty much any amount of money to get another game with the Chao Garden. If they released a new console that could only run the Chao Garden, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Hell lets get Resident evil 1.5 while we are at it
@emperor_norton: Bushido Blade was masocore roguelike before roguelike was masocore. ;)
@spraynardtatum: ...or Die?
I'd love a new Jazz Jackrabbit, if it was done right (And by done right I mean done in 2d).
A new Age of Empires would be sweet, but I don't know quite when they'd set it, since I felt 3 just lost the typical feel. Maybe an AoE 1 or AoM remake? Actually, AoM 2 would probably be the best. Never going to happen though :(
Bushido Blade. It isn't in developer/publisher rights quagmire as some of the others listed above, so it is possible that a new game in this series could happen without a bunch of legal wrangling first. It was a Sony/Squaresoft joint.
Starfox game of the original rail shooter variety. I would prefer retro stylings on this. No voice acting. Da dabba da duppa da dup? Boom bloom bloom jabbum.
Rolling Thunder, we haven't seen a new game since the genesis days. Space Harrier also since Planet Harriers was never put on console.
I'd like:
1. A traditional sequel for Banjo Tooie
2. Another Knights of the Old Republic (Bioware or Obsidian developed)
3. A direct sequel to Super Mario RPG
4. A sequel to Jade Empire
5. A well made Eternal Darkness sequel
In order of desire. These are all games I'm pretty sure will never actually happen.
I'm still holding on for a next-gen (I guess current gen now) remake of the first Resident Evil and Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2.
I would love a "mature" version of the Army Men games, but one that's made right.
Fallout 4 of course.
The Suffering 3
Tekken.
Army Men.
Project Gotham Racing.
Paperboy.
Gizmos and Gadgets.
Silent Scope.
Starcraft: Ghost.
Crazy Taxi.
Bully.
I'd love to see a modern, console-based Final Fantasy Tactics, but given Square's recent trend of Westernizing their RPGs, it'd probably end up being a first-person shooter with emo feelings and shit.
Also, it's not series per se, but I'd love to see a sequel or a modernization of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. I played back through a fair bit of that recently with a friend, and I really think that sort of game style is perfect for the here and now if given the right amount of development time. Hell, Dishonored was essentially Bloodlines 2.0, come to think of it.
Persona 5 already, jesus fucking christ.
Also Otogi!
I fucking loved those games. :(
RETURN FIRE.
Basically dota with military vehicles.
Also escape Velocity by Ambrosia Studios. Basically FTL but with full control.
Berserk deserves another chance. The lore and characters are ripe for an awesome RPG akin to The Witcher series. Someone make it happen!
Colony Wars. The time is right, if you look at what people are Kickstarting you see that 'space combat & trade' games are huge. The time is nearly perfect for Colony Wars to come back, and I think the reception of such a game as both part of a returning trend and as a beloved property would make the prospect of sales more assured.
The Movies
Dude yes! The Movies and
- Black and White (And no Xbox Kinect only please, I have it, but to me, that is a pc-game and a pc-game only)
- Legacy of Kain
- Burnout
- Main series Fable game
- Nocturne (Not really a series, but I really want a second one!)
