I always had a liking to running but now with the Nike+ challenges I'm totally hooked... I'm still starting out so I'm not very high in the challenges that I'm in right now. And It's a great motivational tool and you can post your runs on Facebook if your a total show-off....
If you have Nike+ You can add me to your friends list... And maybe we can do a GiantBomb Challenge???

Well I have to say it's a bit creepy in a branding mind share way but if your really into running, and it's a cool tool to log your runs and it's accurate too. And for someone like me how has problems with motivation it's a way to get me running.

I have the shoes but have never tried to hook it up.  Do I need a ipod nano to make it work?

ya it hooks into your nano (maybe other models?)

biggest complaint is the battery dies fairly quickly and you are forced to buy another one

You need the shoes, the sensor in the shoes and the thing you click under your Nano (new Nano's and iPhone 3Gs don't need that) .

Well I do it with my iPhone 3Gs and with my 4th gen Nano and till now I haven't had any battery issues, and my Nano is already 2 years old and I've been using it with high intensity. I have gone out running with my 3Gs and had 20% plus battery and had still had 15% plus left after a 30 min run and that's with music on....

Before I used some apps that used the gps to calculate my pace and length of my runs and those are really battery draining.....

You don't need the patch, tons of companies have pouches you can buy to put on your shoe.  Here is one example but there are many more if you google it.

Cool idea, but I'm still going low tech. My next shoes are going to be some ASICS gel-Arctics WR2. They have metal spikes on the sole for snow and ice.
