Couldn't afford/ didn't care/ had other things to do
I know it's weird asking on a videogame website.
Anyone here not grow up with video games?
Ever since I found a colecovision in my uncle's basement when I was 4, I've never been able to look back.
" My life was like "Tarzan" only replace gorillas with videogames. Me Tarzan, you Zelda. "I don't get it
The people in my town were too poor, so we had a big playing center instead, there was like 1one Snes, and we all had to share, but I was too young then to know how to play, so I didn't really pick up a video game until about 10 years ago, first game I ever played: Tekken.

What is the connection between Tarzan and gorllias? Jesus.
" @Claude said:I'm not sure what it cost. My friend was middle class though. My family bought an Atari 2600 in 1978. I think it was around 150 or 200 bucks. We were middle class as well." My friend got Pong around 1976. That was the first video game I played. I was 11 years old, so yeah, I grew up without video games. "How expensive was pong back then? Was it something that only upper class families could afford back then? "

Unless Zelda is is Tarzan....also The Jungle Book is way better than Tarzan
I started playing games when I was around 9 so I guess I grew up without video games, but got into them early in my life.
Sure, I grew up with them, but that doesn't mean I grew up as a gamer. I played my share of Atari and NES games when I was a kid, but it wasn't until after I was out of school that I really found my love for gaming. It started with a MUD, then it was Diablo, and it just continued from there.
Oh wow, thats really clever. You know, because "Bob" sounds like "Fuck and "Mysterious" is spelt with a fucking "i" instead of a "y"." @MysteriousBob said:

What counts as 'growing up with'?
I'm sure I started playing games at 4 or 5 (maybe earlier). Anyway thanks for asking Astrotriforce...
" Ever since I found a colecovision in my uncle's basement when I was 4, I've never been able to look back. "i have a similar story revolving around porn.
My dad brought home an Intellivision when I was 4 or 5. I then got a Nintendo when I was about 7, an SNES a few years after that, and then I played PC games until I got a roommate in 2004 who had an Xbox. Now I play 360 and PC games.
I don't see how anyone can not grow up without video games unless they are at least 50 years old.
Video games started in the 70's and were everywhere. If you couldn't afford a console you could afford to drop some change at the arcade, or buy a handheld blinky-lights video game. When I was at school we even had video games in our watches and they were dirt cheap. Not to mention all the Game and Watch knock-offs.
I actually didn't get to play any until i has like 10. My parents were very Anti-Vidya games for whatever reason. me and my brother who was 13 at the time actually snuck out to target and used our savings and bought a Game cube. That was 7 years ago. the look on my parents face that night when they came home and we had the GC hooked up. WAS FUCKING PRICELESS

Also yes the "Jungle Book" is better but then i couldn't have made that confusing quote.

And yes, I did as well. My first console was an NES. My brother played it a lot when he was 11, 12, 13, so around that time, I was 7, 8, 9 years old. Good times, good times.

I wasn't allowed to have video games until I was like 14 or 15...then I got a Playstation 2 and my life changed
My parents were part of a weird group of Christianity that didn't believe in Christmas, so I never got a console as a christmas gift when I was a kid like everyone else did. I played the occasional PC game at school or Mario if I was at my cousin's or The Simpson's arcade whenever we'd bring dad to the airport for his business trips, but I hardly had access to games. I eventually bought my own console with my own money in Grade 9. It was a PS2 which cost me $345 that I had saved for 9 months and I didn't have enough to get a game or memory card with it. It was a month later when that came.
