Apologies for any tumblr misconceptions.

Earlier, I may have sent Jeff Gerstmann a question on tumblr. Starting out as a silly joke, that I would've just ended up sending as anonymous. Well things didn't end up as planned. After sending the question, I had quickly realized there was no anonymous option. Anyways, its not that I care about the angry fan mail I've been receiving on tumblr over the question; no actually its that I don't want to be seen as a "Giant Bomb Hater". I love the site, been watching everything on my roku for more than a few years now, and well just seeing that there's no other group of journalists out there as interesting, as you guys. On a valid note, i'd just like to apologize if my joke was taken the wrong way.

Also to elaborate on my question. I was just bouncing off a quote between Tim Schafer and Jeff Gerstmann when they quick looked “Broken Age” and Jeff had said that people thought his page would bomb. Anyways no matter what confusions, I still think this is really funny.

I guess he just forgot. Posting as your Tumblr handle is the default option, so I can totally see how someone can just submit a message without really thinking about that.

Ignore it because you didn't sent it anonymous? In other words, if you were to send it anonymous, you wouldn't have told him to ignore the joke and wouldn't have come here to apologize for it.

You sound pretty insincere to me dude. I don't think it's that terrible of a comment, but if you feel you need to apologize, you're not doing a great job of it.

ahhaha fact of the matter is, i'm not asking any of you to accept my apology. I'd just like to point out that; in no way am I an "pewdiepie" fan trying to harass Giant Bomb. I love the site, and gets me through terribly boring days. I kinda have no clue what's going on here, but this is yet another interesting look into internet troll psychology - a nice accompanying piece to the write-up Patrick posted yesterday on his Tumblr.

I figured it was a joke when I read it, just a really bad one. Doubly sad that you had to tell him to ignore it, and even more so that you had to make this topic to defend yourself.

On another note, I think it was very poor form for Jeff to, inadvertently or not, sic the attack dogs on you. Even if you happened to catch him on an off day and your post really pissed him off, someone in his position should know better to make public the handles of the people who bug them.

I was hoping he would find a clever way to respond to my question. But you're right, I might've just caught him on an off day. :( Anyways, putting myself in his position; if something like that happened me at the slightest i'd probably expose the person too. Just for giggles. I'm sure his intentions weren't to demean said person in anyway.

Kids were just as weird in my day, we just didn't have the internet so our weirdness was kept more or less contained. If I did have the internet as a kid, I never even would have left the house.

Like some others have said, if you didn't back pedal immediately when you figured out your 'joke' wasn't anonymous things probably would seem entirely different. You must have expected some unwanted fallout from your post if you don't want your name attached to it. I'm definitely going to be skeptical about what you say your intentions were. Partially because this whole thing makes very little sense.
