Best character created this generation.

Who do you think was the best character created this generation so far?  They can be a reimagining of an old one (for example a rebirth of a classic but now the character has personality) or they could have finally opened up in a game this gen.  Doesn't have to be a deep character, but it can be.

My opinion:

And he sort of catches you off guard.  In the beggining they make him out to be the badass cool emo dude, but he actually is deep.  They give him a reason why he's like that, and he probably undergoes the most meaningful character development I've seen in a game.

Commander Shephard from Mass Effect, just because I think it's the perfect balance between a default character and one of your own creation.  The ability to choose your back story (although restricted) is a sign of what's to come in future games, not just visual and numerical customization, but history, mentality, etc.  I'm one who hates even naming a character let alone creating one, but BioWare's choice to give you the option was great, and I've gone both routes in that game, default and custom.

Nathan Drake, Sackboy, GlaDOS, & Nariko are a few off the top of my head.

Travis Touchdown, Urdnot Wrex, Commander Shepard, Augustus Cole, Nathan Drake, GlaDOS to name a few.

I really liked Travis Touchdown and Nero (DMC4) but past that nobody else really stood out for me. Well Carmine from Gears but for all the wrong reasons hes so cheesy that hes awesome.

Niko Bellic. This ultimate badass in my book.

I'd go with Niko Bellic.

I'll go with GLaDOS, but there's not a lot of good ones to chose from yet....

For some reason Carmine from GeOW is my hero this gen. He dies I know..... if I have to choose a more main character I would have to say Captain Shepard from Mass Effect. He is just a great combination for everyone if you know what I mean.

Best new character I'd say for me would be Sheppard from Mass Effect, done just like you expect bioware to do it by now, but just takes it a whole lot further, especially some of the decisions you get to make. Existing characters to this day  I'd either Solid Snake/ Gordon Freeman.


edit- I'd also have to say Raiden,as far as reinvented characters go..just how drastically he changed from being the dumb metrosexual looking girlyman from MGS2 to how he ending up being in MGS4.

Max doesn't count... he's been around for a number of years.

I was going to say Niko Bellic, but the award goes to Mohammad, the taxi driver who works for Roman... the one who often calls Niko a "dog lover."

I would go with Wrex from Mass Effect. He is one of the few game characters that has ever made me laugh out loud.

Brucie! He just has to win for being the character that uses the most steroids. I can't think of any other really great characters right now, Niko is great too I guess... most of the characters in GTA IV are really good. I guess there's Glados and Run DMC aswell...

I have to say Nathan Drake. He's just a really likable guy. And if not him then I say Johnny from MGS4. Yes, he was in MGS1 but, no one even knew his name.

Yeah, Drake is like the every man.. and he is funny too. Something we should see more of in gaming these days.

My worst character is EASILY Baird from Gears of War.

The Big Daddy/Little Sister mix...and Packie for GTAIV ...Long live the Irish!
