@BraveToaster: we actually just finished that one. I've heard dungeon defenders is good as well.

Dungeon Defenders is good. Splitscreen kind of sucks if you have a smaller TV, though.

Trine 2 is 3-player, if that counts.

@Joker369: From the reviews I have just read it seems this would be a really good 4 player coop platformer. Thanks!

Gears of War 3? Though it only supports up to 2 players locally speaking.

I've been playing through RE5 and as a co-op game it's fantastic and engaging.

Does it have to be local? I can't think of many games that are 4 player coop locally, but there are plenty that are online.

4 player

  • Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 (also split screen 2P)
  • Halo 3, ODST, Reach (also split screen 2P)
  • Gears of War 3 (also split screen 2P)
  • Borderlands (also split screen 2P)
  • Castle Crashers (I believe you can play this one 4 player locally)

2 Player

  • Gears of War 1 and 2
  • Lara Croft The Guardian of Light
  • Resident Evil 5

Every one of those games can be played locally as well.

Borderlands

Came to post this. If you enjoy leveling/rpg mechanics and like shooting dudes in the face you could probably spend 100 or so hours with Borderlands and all of it's DLC (depending on how into the loot farming you get).

Also as others have said Dungeon Defenders is a great choice. That said I've never actually played the XBLA version and I can not ever imagine controlling that game without m+kb so I don't know if I can personally suggest that.

Final Fight Double Impact owns. Me and my wife took over Metro City and we had a blast doing it. Blood on the Sand's pretty rad too. For an old school challenge Both Earth Defense Force games are awesome.

Local 4 Player Co-op Games I recommend- Rayman Origins, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 (online as well), Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter 1 and 2

Online 4 Player Co-op- Gears of Wars Series, Left 4 Dead, Halo Reach and ODST, Borderlands, Mass Effect 3, Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2, Army of Two: 40th Day, Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty World at War, Dead Island, Lost Planet 2, Earth Defense Force, FEAR 3

I hope this helps a little.
