Easy choice for me: Red Dead Redemption Ending/Credits
The whole ending was just perfect for me. The big title card at the end; a perfect callback to classic westerns like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly-
and then this awesome tune that just sums up everything you have just been through. You have to experience it for yourself. Fuck the haters.
Thank you for adding the Halo 2 credits on there. Fantastic song that probably got overlooked from people screaming at their tv's. A great piece with such a soft, somber theme. I hate that the ending of it is so weird though. Always scares me :P
@siroptimusprime: Thank you, I think I was hungry yesterday so my dickishness rose while writing the latter part of the post, my apologies.
@icicle7x3: If I had to pick a song from CT it would be Frog's theme, hence the lack of inclusion (or any of a number of Chrono Cross songs just not the credits or last boss)
For everything else obviously there's way too many damn games to keep track of and most modern credits don't stick with me at all. Despite its simplicity Front Mission 3 still draws the most emotional response from me.
I like the idea of this thread, but I don't think it really makes sense to have a poll when 99% of people are going to want to pick something that isn't on the poll.
Anyway, as for my pick, I have to agree with @tangoup
Mass Effect 2's 'The Suicide Mission'.
@live2brighteous: I remember Max Payne 2 having really good music actually (unfortunately you're the only person who ever played 3) and lo and behold:
But licensed music doesn't count.
@slashdance: Just didn't remember Godhand yesterday :O Though I'd say it's mid tier or so; Double Dragon Neon and Rogue Warrior beat out its silliness
@ll_exile_ll: Between Dancing Mad, That lame song from Final Fantasy VII, Gwyn, and the Halo 2 Credits I'd say I've got at least 40% coverage, maybe 50-60%; the rest of the thread is just to post an interesting song you remember. All threads could and should be turned into polls; it's a fact.
Goddamn it, man, you missed the most important one:
as well as the ending theme to that same game. Video games might be far behind movies in terms of narrative and dialog, but they have quite surpassed them in terms of music.
EDIT: Here it is:
Alright now you guys are just cracking me up; I'm not trying to troll but I guess it happens all the same. Until the thread is 2 pages at least read the whole thing before you post (don't have to click on all the youtube links) takes 2 minutes.
I'm not voting, because you shouldn't have made this a poll, since you clearly missed the best ones, and this thread already exists. Also, not sure why you would mark FFVII as "Derp". Why would you expect anyone to know what that track is compared to the others?
"That lame song from Final Fantasy VII", Uematsu will murder you for that one.
I would find it, but the forum search is broken as fuck.
Also, your links aren't links. Try linking your links next time.
But I will, at least, humour you. As I have done in every other one of these same threads, here is the best final boss music:
@fredchuckdave: I really hope I wasn't the only one who played MP3. Especially for its multiplayers sake haha!
Anywho, for the dudes who haven't played MP3 yet:
(I tried inserting it as a video, but it kept telling me it "didn't know the video service". Sorry about that.)
Gwyn's theme from Dark Souls: The relatively subdued tones of the music in the last fight are in such stark contrast to the rest of the boss themes and it really helps set the mood that that the player has pretty much destroyed the last vestiges of the once-great civilization that thrived in Lordan. The Gwyn fight also carries a significantly different weight depending on if you sided with Frampt or Kaathe.
Dancing Mad: This song is just dope all the way through. Nevermind that the full version is almost 20 minutes long, I'mma listen to the whole damn thing.
FFVIII -The Extreme: I just like #8. I'll admit that the writing might not be the best in the series but I like 8's soundtrack the most.
