Inspired by ye olde JRPG thread, multiple choice to make it a total goatfuck. Links also a total goatfuck, good luck with that (look at the first one). Poll options completely random and off the top of my head. I should note while its cool looking up ending musical themes it can be a little exhausting listening to them all. Road to Chicago's just a damn good song, it has nothing to do with this thread, though Thomas Newman's (and Roger Deakins') ability to get nominated for Oscars and not win is staggering.

Woops forgot to link Staff Roll: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tp38tI5StcI

None of these.

Memories of You (Persona 3). Every single goddamned time. As a song on its own it is incredibly good, but after that ending? Fuck.

#3 Edited by Fredchuckdave (6468 posts) -

Note I don't care if you have the standard "Waaah you didn't pick my song" nonsense here but at least link to the song.

#4 Posted by joshthebear (2700 posts) -

Dancing Mad is sooooooooo good.

#5 Edited by Sooty (8195 posts) -

This thread is invalid without The Almighty. (Persona 4)

...but maybe it doesn't count as it isn't the true ending boss.

Nonsense, the ending to Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction is where it's at:

Well poo on you too!

(P.S. I don't want to poo on you)

Where are Heavy Rain and inFamous 2?

Poo on you!

(P.S. While I don't personally want to poo on you I hope someone else does, like maybe a bird or something)

This man has it right.

I really enjoyed the ending credits to Syndicate because I thought that remix of the original theme was really well done, Skrillex or not.

#16 Posted by Superfriend (1615 posts) -

Easy choice for me: Red Dead Redemption Ending/Credits

The whole ending was just perfect for me. The big title card at the end; a perfect callback to classic westerns like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly-

and then this awesome tune that just sums up everything you have just been through. You have to experience it for yourself. Fuck the haters.

#17 Posted by Sgtpierceface (666 posts) -

Thank you for adding the Halo 2 credits on there. Fantastic song that probably got overlooked from people screaming at their tv's. A great piece with such a soft, somber theme. I hate that the ending of it is so weird though. Always scares me :P

#18 Posted by Neurotic (632 posts) -

Er, I'll just leave this here and we can finish the discussion:

Technically not the last boss but might as well be. As for credits:

#19 Posted by TangoUp (314 posts) -

Mass Effect 2's 'The Suicide Mission'.

#20 Posted by DaMisterChief (628 posts) -

Halo 3's Ending Credits (DRUMS AND ALL)

#21 Edited by Guided_By_Tigers (8020 posts) -

What about the cheesy credits song to Jake's ending in RE6?

#22 Posted by ssj4raditz (1156 posts) -

Screw all of you.

#23 Edited by Fredchuckdave (6468 posts) -

@siroptimusprime: Thank you, I think I was hungry yesterday so my dickishness rose while writing the latter part of the post, my apologies.

@icicle7x3: If I had to pick a song from CT it would be Frog's theme, hence the lack of inclusion (or any of a number of Chrono Cross songs just not the credits or last boss)

For everything else obviously there's way too many damn games to keep track of and most modern credits don't stick with me at all. Despite its simplicity Front Mission 3 still draws the most emotional response from me.

#24 Posted by ll_Exile_ll (1976 posts) -

I like the idea of this thread, but I don't think it really makes sense to have a poll when 99% of people are going to want to pick something that isn't on the poll.

Anyway, as for my pick, I have to agree with @tangoup

Mass Effect 2's 'The Suicide Mission'.

#25 Posted by Live2bRighteous (316 posts) -

That list needs a little more Max Payne 3. :L

#26 Posted by SlashDance (1854 posts) -

Dragon kick your ass into the milky way. *milky way !*

Okami also comes to mind. Not really into that kind of japanese music, but these credits are pretty classy.

#27 Edited by Fredchuckdave (6468 posts) -

@live2brighteous: I remember Max Payne 2 having really good music actually (unfortunately you're the only person who ever played 3) and lo and behold:

But licensed music doesn't count.

@slashdance: Just didn't remember Godhand yesterday :O Though I'd say it's mid tier or so; Double Dragon Neon and Rogue Warrior beat out its silliness

@ll_exile_ll: Between Dancing Mad, That lame song from Final Fantasy VII, Gwyn, and the Halo 2 Credits I'd say I've got at least 40% coverage, maybe 50-60%; the rest of the thread is just to post an interesting song you remember. All threads could and should be turned into polls; it's a fact.

#29 Edited by believer258 (12477 posts) -

Goddamn it, man, you missed the most important one:

as well as the ending theme to that same game. Video games might be far behind movies in terms of narrative and dialog, but they have quite surpassed them in terms of music.

EDIT: Here it is:

#30 Posted by Fredchuckdave (6468 posts) -

Alright now you guys are just cracking me up; I'm not trying to troll but I guess it happens all the same. Until the thread is 2 pages at least read the whole thing before you post (don't have to click on all the youtube links) takes 2 minutes.

#31 Edited by Canteu (2843 posts) -

I'm not voting, because you shouldn't have made this a poll, since you clearly missed the best ones, and this thread already exists. Also, not sure why you would mark FFVII as "Derp". Why would you expect anyone to know what that track is compared to the others?

"That lame song from Final Fantasy VII", Uematsu will murder you for that one.

I would find it, but the forum search is broken as fuck.

Also, your links aren't links. Try linking your links next time.

But I will, at least, humour you. As I have done in every other one of these same threads, here is the best final boss music:

#32 Edited by Pr1mus (4007 posts) -

So this thread killed the forum right?

Even when i don't click any of the video it takes forever to load and when i try to put a video it says it doesn't recognize that video service (youtube).

#33 Edited by Fredchuckdave (6468 posts) -

@pr1mus: Not sure, loads instantly for me.

#34 Edited by Live2bRighteous (316 posts) -

@fredchuckdave: I really hope I wasn't the only one who played MP3. Especially for its multiplayers sake haha!

Anywho, for the dudes who haven't played MP3 yet:

(I tried inserting it as a video, but it kept telling me it "didn't know the video service". Sorry about that.)

Gwyn's theme from Dark Souls: The relatively subdued tones of the music in the last fight are in such stark contrast to the rest of the boss themes and it really helps set the mood that that the player has pretty much destroyed the last vestiges of the once-great civilization that thrived in Lordan. The Gwyn fight also carries a significantly different weight depending on if you sided with Frampt or Kaathe.

Dancing Mad: This song is just dope all the way through. Nevermind that the full version is almost 20 minutes long, I'mma listen to the whole damn thing.

FFVIII -The Extreme: I just like #8. I'll admit that the writing might not be the best in the series but I like 8's soundtrack the most.

#36 Edited by Azteck (7416 posts) -

Mass Effect 1, or rather M4 Part II by Faunts. God fucking dammit that song is good.

#37 Posted by thebunnyhunter (1497 posts) -

Battle Hymn of the Soul for the Last Boss part

Memories of You for the credits

damn Persona 3 had one hell of a soundtrack

Best final boss music is so easy. It's this: [link] (for some reason the new site won't let recognize youtube links in the video tab for me.)

Best Credit theme is this: [link]

#40 Edited by hiono (52 posts) -

i keep leaning towards the ending of mgs 3

#41 Posted by paulwade1984 (478 posts) -

I voted for Hotline Miami cos I love that soundtrack. But the real winner is persona 3. The high's and lows of that final boss and ending were outstanding, and that song is a great bookend.

#42 Edited by Pr1mus (4007 posts) -

The Modern Warfare 2 ending credits are pretty great.

To me this will always be the best ending/credits theme.

The ending credits for the Matrix Revolutions. Say what you will about that movie, but the ending theme gets you PUMPED!!!!
