Gonna echo some of what people in this thread have said, but my favorite LPs:
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 by Pokcapn and "The Posse"
Five men descend in to the madness that was one of the worst games of 2006, if not one of the worst games of this entire generation of gaming consoles. Watch as they literally play through the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. As hilarious as it is tragic.
- Jurassic Park: Trepsasser by ResearchIndicates
Quite possibly the most professional LP you'll ever watch, ResearchIndicates will make you appreciate one of the biggest, most ambitious rotten eggs the gaming industry has ever produced. Informative, insightful, and thorough, this LP is one of the high water marks every LP creator strives towards.
- 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand by ChipCheezum and General Ironicus
While not quite as profound as Sonic or Trespasser, this is just an example of a good, well-produced LP by people who have good chemistry together and are genuinely funny. It helps that they're also playing a genuinely absurd game like Blood on the Sand, which is ripe with comedy-making possibilities.
- Dead Rising by OatmealRaisin
Perfecting Dead Rising is not an easy task. It's the sort of game that, without intense planning and incredible skill, can go really wrong, really quickly. This man not only saves every survivor, but shows every inch of the Willamette mall off with incredible detail, from both the level cap and the perspective of a newbie.
- New Super Mario Bros. Wii by Maxwell Adams and The Freelance Astronauts
Did you like GiantBomb's quicklook of NSMB Wii, and all of the chaos of four player simultaneous co-op? Imagine watching somebody do the entire game like that. Now, mix in copious amounts of alcohol, a tendency to screw over your friends, and lots of shouting. That's basically what this is, and it's a riot from start to finish.
- Daikatana by Proteus and Suspicious
Unlike Trespasser this won't enlighten you about an ambitious PC shooter with a troubled development history. Daikatana is bad, and much like with Sonic, a lot of the enjoyment here comes from witnessing just how bad the game really is. Frequent crashes, an awful storyline, and general stupidity is about - and with co-op, to boot!
- Super Metroid @ 143% Speed by BrickRoad
A rare example of a good LP not on SomethingAwful, SM@143% is both similar and very different to Trespasser. Where as Trespasser was calm, concise, and easily understood, BrickRoad talks about Super Metroid with the speed and verve of a used car salesman, belting off nerdy factoids about intricate game functions like they are common knowledge. And it's amazing!
- Seaman by Maxwell Adams and the Freelance Astronauts
Everybody needs to experience the weirdest, most intricate virtual pet simulator from Sega at least once. It really has to be seen to be believed. Since actually playing the game these days is difficult if not borderline impossible, you'll have to settle for Maxwell's LP. Which is good, because Maxwell and crew do just about everything you'd expect.
- Crysis: Ironman by The Nanosuit Ninja
Another non-Something-Awful LP, Crysis Ironman is a sight to behold, as a cocky, hyperactive irish man takes us on a tour through the first Crysis and why it's so amazing. But not just any tour: not only is he playing it on the hardest difficulty, but it's modded to be even harder beyond that. What follows is an LP that shows us why he earned the name "Nanosuit Ninja", as he silently and skillfully kills everyone and never dies.
- Mario Party 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9... by Pokecapn and "The Posse"
Currently running as I type this, Pokecapn and crew play one board from each Mario Party game in sequence, with copious amounts of alcohol to lubricate things. And did I mention? They're playing their own custom variant called "Wario Party", where minigames completely lack instructions and everything is crazy and out of control. Who will come out on top at the end of it all? Watch and see!
