Best Online game?

I'm guessing this topic has been done loadsa times but what is everyone's favourite online games (not only FPSs). I thought it was Halo 3 hands down for a while until I played Left 4 Dead whcih is very good online also and I am yet too play CoD4 (unbelievably) so what are everyone's fave online games?

Killzone 2, age of empires, stracraft, world in conflict and  left 4 dead are some of them.

CoD4 as you mentioned and Team Fortress 2.

Left 4 Dead is the only game I play online these days.

I used to be a big Rainbow Six player back in the days of the original Xbox.

Damn I can't believe I forgot to mention Team Fortress 2. I play that loads yet it slipped my mind. Okay now it's a toss up between L4D Halo 3 and TF2

Halo 3 has a horrible community.. you try and politely say 'Hey' and you get comments like 'wtf.. queer'  and that game lags like crazy.. so i'd go for Vegas 2 (baring that in mind i dont play CoD games too much, or L4D)

Forza 2 is best without a doubt community wise, there's competition with no insults, fantastic artwork on the cars, the tuners are great people (i feel like a walking ad right now) But the let down is the game lags -.-' and a laggy racing game is worse than a laggy FPS imo

No matter what online game I play, I still come back to Halo 3 online eventually.  There are some great online games out there but for me personally, Halo 3 hasn't been bettered yet.

For me its:
TF2 Is the best multiplayer experience
Halo 3 is the best console experience

Team Fortress 2. It is the perfect online FPS. And the only one I feel compelled to play competitively.

I like TF2 and WoW.

Counter-strike.

Halo 3 in any sort of competitive mode comparison is easily my fav, but in online co-op, Gears 2 Horde mode is just a riot, as well as L4D, IF you can gather up some friends.

It used to be socom for me but not anymore for obvious reasons. Currently I would say BF1943.

TF2, case closed.

The original call of duty really got me into online gaming. I still love the Battlefiled series, especially 2. I also relly enjoyed World in Conflct, the only strategy game I like to play online.
