You nominated, you voted, and you got Hotline Miami.

THE CLOCK HAS STRUCK 3. No more nominees will be taken.

A proper vote hasn't been done yet and I'm sure others find music as important as me to video games so I think this is actually a pretty significant aspect to debate and vote on. Nominations end on November 28th at 3 PM EST.

Games that are valid are those that came out after the launch of the 360 (November 2005) and released on the PSP, DS, 360, PS3, PC, or Wii. No remakes or ports (e.g. Persona 3 Portable).

Do not embed videos, it will make this thread difficult to use.

Only 3 nominations per user. Don't worry, your fourth best could still be nominated by someone else (especially if you ask). If not, well, then it never stood a chance anyways .

Mine are:

I'll ask someone to nominate Demon's Souls and Super Mario Galaxy.

Nice topic, there was some really good soundtrack this gen. So many that just three is hard to pick.

  • Nier
  • Final Fantasy 13
  • Child of Eden

It would be cool if Shatter and Mirrors edge were nominated.

Oh man, I would've asked for Bastion as well, but looks like that's already taken care of.

Eh. I don't like these lists. There are far too many fantastic games, and on topic, far too many fantastic soundtracks. I wouldn't be able to choose, nor would I want to. With that being said, I'll just go with my top soundtracks of the year for me so far.

1. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon

2. Bioshock Infinite

3. The Last of Us

4. Dead Space 3

There's probably more, but those are the ones that stuck out to me of the games that I have played. I really want to play Tomb Raider and experience that game with the soundtrack.

Ok, since a few I would have picked are already mentioned (Hotline Miami, Journey) here are a few more that I really loved this gen.

  • Mass Effect (Vigil is probably one of the best music pieces this gen, hands down)
  • Halo 3 ODST (srsly)
  • Asura's Wrath

Hotline Miami's soundtrack is great, probably one of my favorite albums ever.

I also really enjoyed Catherine's OST, especially the music that plays during the bar sections.

And I guess I should also mention Trails in the Sky's soundtrack, because I love everything about that game.

Persona 4 golden it's no question

All music in the history of music is shit compared to it.

There's been tons of good ones this gen and a few of my favorites have already been mentioned.

  • Bayonetta (Possibly my favorite soundtrack of the gen, both the songs themselves and how they're used)
  • Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
  • Metal Gear Solid 4

Would someone kindly nominated BioShock?

  1. Lost Odyssey
  2. Nier
  3. The Last Story

Wish I had enough room for FFXIII

#21 Posted by aurahack (2264 posts) -
  • Nier (For being so perfectly composed. I've rarely listened to a soundtrack, or straight-up album, filled with so much variety, emotion, and atmosphere.)
  • Journey (For having the best cello performance I think I've ever heard and for being critical to the game's experience, making it the triumph that it was.)
  • Super Meat Boy (Dude.)

Those are the only three that I can think of that are so good, they are completely listenable on their own.

Though Nier should totally win by default because jesus christ you guys, listen to the Nier soundtrack!!

Mass Effect 3 and Prince of Persia (2008) which had tunes so hot that Ubi reused some of them in Dawn of Discovery!

Mass Effect 2

Batman Arkham City

Bioshock Infinite

#24 Edited by Dolphin_Butter (1913 posts) -
  • Nier
  • Bionic Commando: Rearmed
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

EDIT: Accommodating Super Mario Galaxy's prior nomination, but not removing Nier just to emphasize how much it deserves the win. :)

What did I list in @mento's blog?....Alright, I got some shit:

  • Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon
  • Radiant Historia

That's it. Everything else has already been nominated.

#39 Edited by DevourerOfTime (328 posts) -

All the big names are probably going to make the list. Might as well give props to the small guys.

Tied for 4th Votes That People Should Totally Vote for: Nier, Valkyria Chronicles, The World Ends With You, Ghost Trick, No More Heroes, ilomilo, Shatter.

That's it. Everything else has already been nominated.

Look at above 4th place list :P

But man, forgot about Fragile Dreams. Solid soundtrack with a killer main theme.

  • Journey

Special mentions to Tales of Vesperia, Demon's/Dark Souls, The Last of Us, Mass Effect, Silent Hill Homecoming & Shattered Memories, and Deadly Premonition.

You know, Hotline Miami has been nominated, nominations could go to some other games rather than mentioning the same handful over and over.

I was under the impression that more nominations = guaranteed spot in the final bracket and higher seeding. Is that not the case? I'll change my vote if not.

Mirrors Edge

Anarchy Reigns

oh yeah and Resonance of Fate.

This does not include licensed soundtracks I assume? Things would get a little weird if it did.

I don't know. Everyone's voting for Hotline Miami. I guess licensed soundtracks are cool?
