Best Video Game Score/Soundtrack?

So i just picked up the Collector's Edition of Alan Wake which includes the game's wonderful soundtrack, which got me thinking, whuch games have the best soundtracks or scores?

For me it would be Alan Wake, The entire Mario Franchise, and Heavy Rain.

Does Daft punk's soundtrack for Tron: Legacy in Tron: Evolution count? If so that. END OF LINE.

Alan Wake and Heavy Rain are two of my favorites as well. Always been a huge fan of the Silent Hill series. Akira Yamaoka and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn are fucking brilliant.

Nier. Awesome soundtrack. Awesome game. One of the very best this generation.

WOW Where to start ?

This is a common thread subject. For me, it has to be Nier. I have never listened to a game's OST more than that one. AND I HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED NIER YET!

Viper Phase-1

Space-electronica kind of deal, groovy stuff, easier to listen to and enjoy than the hardcore pumping tunes in the Raiden Fighters series. The composer is self-taught like me so it's kinda clear there's a lot of cookiecutter hardcore beats for one piece of sweet relief.

Assassins Creed, all of them, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Modern Warfare 2, Battlefield 2. Those are the ones I can think of right now. For some reason my brain isnt working.

ODST and Reach both have awesome soundtracks.

I generally don't listen to video game soundtracks, nor do I really pay much attention to music in games. That being said, I feel that the Mega Man franchise has the best music of any video game franchise. The themes from those games are so iconic and so good, especially considering how old many of them are and the limitations to sound during that generation. Final Fantasy has some particularly good music as well.

Edit...need more coffee. Can't believe I forgot about the two games that I went all over the place to track down most of the soundtrack as it was never officially put out. quite happy that I have found as much as I have with these two: Brutal Legend & Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Morrowind has some incredible ambient music and Mass Effect 2 had some amazing tracks too (Suicide mission just gets you pumped.) The Final Fantasy series has some pretty iconic ones too - FF7 prelude and FFX To Zanarkand off of the top of my head.

I also love the Mega Man 3 theme and Castlevania - Bloody Tears.

Blue Water Blue Sky is pretty awesome too.

Recently I've been listening to the Persona 4 soundtrack... and I have to say, it's pretty damn good, and I am no fan of J-Pop. the soundtrack for Nanako's dungeon is just SO good, i can't help to just keep replaying it.

I have always thought that the Halo series had some of the greatest soundtracks in video games.
  

The entire Metal Gear Solid series has amazing soundtracks.

Sans Portable Ops, because I didn't play that, so I don't know.

Super Meat Boy. Love it.

Shadow of the Colossus, one of the reasons why it's my most favourite game of all time.

Mass Effect 2 has a great main theme that gives me chills every time

I really liked all the music found in Alan Wake. Portal 2 was fantastic as well - and I'm usually not into electronic music.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and bolts has a fantastic soundtrack, Klungo Saves Teh World Dawg!

Mass Effect theme, Uncharted 2, Pokemon games. And holy shit, Aquaria on Steam has a really good soundtrack

de Blob has some legit funk. I love it.

in terms of the soundtrack that really bring out the most of the game whether it's the game's mood/atmosphere or the characters definitely persona 3 and 4 and bioshock for the great ambiance

Persona 3 and Mass Effect are probably my favorite ones.

I love almost all of Han Zimmer's work. So I guess Modern Warfare 2 is one of my favorites, but  Martin O'Donnell is so freaking talented. It's one of those two  composers for sure.
