biggest let down was GTAIV, while it captured an amazing atmosphere and realistic feel, it sacrificed fun and replay value. All the crazy missions in SA felt awkward at first and made it over the top but it extended the length of the game and gave u a reason to replay it. GTAIV was mostly devoid of those missions.
Biggest let down this year.
Easily Star Wars: The Force Unleashed as been the biggest let down. It felt unfinished in most parts and the highly touted engine was underutilized, It sadly never rose above anything than average.
I haven't really had many big disappointments yet but as of right now Warhammer online is a bit of one for me. I'm not getting into it as much as I thought.
I was really looking forward to both Mercenaries 2 and Too Human, and then I played their demos. They deterred me from buying either game. Maybe I'll give them a chance when they come down in price.
Out of the games I actually bought though (which isn't that many), I'd have to say GTA IV. It's my favorite game of the year so far, but at the same time the biggest let down. But this isn't really the game's fault as much as it is mine. San Andreas is my favorite game of all time, so naturally I was hyped for GTA IV like no other game before. I watched every trailer multiple times, studied every screenshot, and read every preview I could find. My expectations for the game shot into the stratosphere and when I finally got my hands on it and discovered it fell a little bit shy of absolute godliness, I was totally crushed. Needless to say, I learned my lesson. Never again will I let my expectations for a game get so unreasonably high.
