I'm glad that Dragon Quarter killed any desire for me to follow the BoF series. Don't think my heart would be able to take another beloved franchise being treated like poo.

I was just thinking the other day about how all of the old JRPG series are almost exclusively handheld games now and wondering if Capcom and Konami have any plans to revive theirs. I can't say that launch site gets me very excited about this one though. At least it's available on PC if I ever want to play it, but I'd really like to see at least one great non-FF JRPG on a console on one of the next gen consoles.

Hopefully Konami will get its act together and release another numbered Suikoden in the next 5 years, but judging by the way they've been running things lately, I don't expect it. I'm glad there are still Dragon Quests and Shin Megami Tensei games being made these days, but I just don't like playing long games on a handheld.

This is a travesty... and here I thought they couldn't do worse than Dragon Quarters.

Wow. I was a HUGE BoF fan. I think BoF 2 and 3 are two of the best RPG's ever made. Not very inventive, but they did everything so well. I will try and hold out hope for this new title, but man, it makes me a little sad.

Breath of Fire IV is an amazing game, hopefully this will be cool. Whatever version it is, its a new BoF game and in my books that's a freaking miracle.

Theoretically if it can play on PC then with a little, okay maybe a lot of, work it could be ported to PSN and Vita.

Either way my body is ready for a new sprite based BoF.

RPGs work great on mobile devices. This game just looks like straight up shit.

Also Capcom announced 12 other shitty games today.

Never played a breath of fire game. I know it's on Psn, so if I ever decide to play one I know where to go.

If it turns out well then I don't give a fuck what platform it's on. The real problem is that I'm really not confident in Capcom's ability to make a good Breath of Fire game anymore.

What ARE you mad at? This is awesome news that a new BoF is being made.

There's been almost no information about the game and you're already sure it's going to suck. There's no reason to think they can't make a great game on the announced platforms unless you're just mad that they're making a new Breath of Fire game at all. Do you not own a tablet, phone, or PC?

Because this trash isn't a BOF game. It's some stupid online game that they decided to slap the Breath of Fire name on to, in hopes of getting people interested via nostalgia. Even worse they're calling it "Breath of Fire VI' and not "Breath of Fire Online" or "Breath of Fire (insert subtitle here)".

It's going to be on mobile and tablet. It's going to be mostly online. The art style looks NOTHING like Breath of Fire. That's all the info I need right there.

Sorry, didn't realise you had played this "trash" already and knew all of it's intricacies. Of course, Capcom disagrees with you. Capcom own the BoF name and if they put it on something, it's a BoF game.

I had a lot of fun with Breath of Fire 3, I don't wanna play games with full touch screen controls, and I don't want to play any sort of MMO, free-to-play or otherwise. I'm with you, Kishinfoulux. I won't be playing Precious Moments VI Online.

@kishinfoulux: There's nothing from Breath of Fire that couldn't be pulled off on a tablet. They've also changed the art style before. Maybe wait until you actually see the game before you throw your internet temper tantrums.

The balls on Capcom to call this Breath of Fire VI. Well at least someone at Capcom remembers this franchise. It's too bad it's the wrong people that do.

While I will hold my judgment until I see some gameplay, I cannot say what I have seen and read so far makes me happy.

Dragon Quarter was a super weird, super dark RPG with a bizarre, innovative central mechanic. This seems like the exact opposite in every respect. That's a shame.

I'm not going to pretend that Capcom desecrating a decades-old franchise of theirs is anything new though. I had some fun times with Breath of Fire, time to move on.

I made it a task to play through Breath of Fire- III and IV during the past two weeks, and nostalgia was the only thing which kept me going. Let's get one thing out of the way: The Breath of Fire-series was never a staple of quality or solid gameplay.

Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter suffered from poor design choices and a disconnected development team. Did they even know what the audience wanted? Why create a game where dragon usage could net you an irreversible game over? The gameplay might've been fresh and new; the challenge dungeon was fun, the battle system inventive; but all this was surrounded by a gloomy and repetitive atmosphere.

Both Breath of Fire III and Breath of Fire IV are antiques. Always clumsy, often unfair, sometimes irritating, and never anything but nostalgia; the games are run-of-the-mill RPGs with uneven challenges. It's a grindfest galore.

I'm sorry guys. I did love this series, too. Replaying it was a let-down.

I only played Dragon Quarter. Which was pretty good, I enjoyed it. Always kinda wonder if I should dip further into the series. IV is supposed to be good, right?

Pathetically enough, this news made my day markedly worse.

To everyone who doesn't get why this is a let down, I think you need to acquaint yourself with Capcom's mobile game track record.

Just remake BOF3 in HD and bring it to everything please.

Breath of Fire 6 is for Browsers...not PC. Also, not slated for release outside Japan (thanks Capcom! you're the best).

Also BoF II is coming to WiiU VC, where all 12 people who care about BoF and own a WiiU can play it.

Other fun announcements: Street Fighter x. All Capcom (for mobile), and an Onimusha game for browsers. Winners, all around.

I don't have to wait to see the game. Being mobile/tablet, plus online focused, plus not a true BOF game is enough evidence for me. I'm bothered because they're bastardizing a series that I really enjoyed. Its' like what they're doing with Legacy of Kain, by making the next game online focused. Fuck that shit.

It took me an entire day to realize this wasn't about Breath of Death VI.
