The only game i've ever bought, but then returned within a couple days was Deus Ex 2.

You are wise beyond your years.

For myself, I preordered Puzzle Quest 2 on Steam, and I think it is worse than the first game in just about every way possible. That developer either got really strapped for cash, or there was some mass exodus of everyone talented from that studio.

I listened to Jeff and saw the love on the forums and bought Alpha Protocol. Needless to say I was disappoint. I see the diamond in the rough, but I'm not digging through the layers of shit to get it to shine. Not worth it imo.

I'm almost positive Jeff repeatedly complained about the controls in Alpha Protocol during its Quick Look, and ultimately said something to the effect of "I like all the cool conversation stuff, but man the rest of it plays like garbage". Which was also the conclusion that many, MANY reviewers reached.

I don't think you "listened to Jeff" on that one, unless you have very selective hearing.

Yep. Jeff had very, very mixed feelings on that one up to and including the review. And he didn't seem to like how the game played very much, and wasn't quiet about it.

BlOps2. So very boring

P.S. When God of War 3 came out I got that along with the HD remakes. Never played the game prior to that and I wish I would have left it that way.

BF4 for the PC. For me, the beta ran perfectly fine on my middle of the road PC and I had no problems with lag or staying connected. I ignored the advice of previous BF players who echoed the historical evidence that a Battlefield game has yet to launch in good shape. Pre-ordered at full price. The game has yet to work for a whole match and performs worse than I had hoped it would. My real anger came when less than a month after release, during which I had yet to get it to work, it was discounted at several retailers. I literally threw money away because I got it day one - and it is entirely my fault for not listening to the general consensus beforehand. I will never again buy a Battlefield game when it comes out.

I remember when I bought Mercenaries 2... It was all a bag of nothing.

The first time I ever really experienced this was when I bought (I didn't actually buy it, it was a gift) Alone in the Dark on 360. It looked so good in the trailers, and then when I got it, the game was just bad. Probably the first time I've ever felt truly disappointed with a game too.

Terraria. I hated Minecraft and don't really enjoy indie pixel-art games. But I let my friend talk me into getting it during a steam sale. I've logged 2 minutes and shan't run the game again.

I bought 6 months of WoW subscription and got bored after a month. That's $70 for a game I don't really feel like playing.

Crackdown 2, Crysis, Sonic Colors, Wii U Console, Birthday Cake Oreos(they're too good), Jet Set Radio PSN(my nostalgia got the better of me as this game did not age well imo)..

Very few regrettable game purchases: Elder Scrolls Oblivion, the Movies, Dark Souls, maybe a few more.

These fucking things, THESE FUCKING THINGS. I can't wear them for more than 10 minutes at a time because they are so goddamn tight. Feels like I'm in that scene from Casino.

I regret buying a 360, PS3, and Wii at launch. Taught me to wait the year or so it takes for the systems to get any worthwhile games, though. Worked with the Wii U; Just picked one up and am in love with it.

Bravely Default - Sure, the first half of the game is a fine old school RPG with the only drawbacks being a pointless mechanic that is essentially a convoluted guard option and a barely-present plot full of cliches. The characters and how they're written are cool, though don't go anywhere near the English voice acting. But fuck that utterly cancerous second half of the game with a rusty knife.

Batman: Arkham Origins - It's just Arkham City 1.5. Boring.

3DO at launch, and almost every game I ended up buying (Way of the Warrior, Shockwave, think like 20 games). They were entertaining for like 1 hour for bad FMV and then totally forgettable. I ended up trading in the system and the whole lot for a bunch of import PS1 games. Only exception was Return Fire, it's pretty alright. Ended up getting it on PS1 as well.

Purchased Tearaway over the Holidays, I did get it for sale on PSN. So there's a silver lining as it was cheaper than buying it at full price.

I didn't like it at all though. Read all the reviews and I'm a big fan of Little Big Planet. The game just didn't seem to have a direction. I didn't care about the character or what was happening in the game. They used the vita functions really well with the camera and front and back touch pads. I just didn't get into it at all and I couldn't wait for it finish.

Hopefully Bravely Default catches me more.

The 3DS version of Street Fighter IV.

I'm sure it was a perfectly fine version of that game, but I don't even like fighting games. I just kinda wanted to have something for the system at the time.

I bought an Acer A500, 10 inch tablet for about $400 back when they came out. It's actually a really neat device; however, as an indicator of how often I actually use it: the last time I turned it on, 30 apps updated. Other than occasionally rolling dice for a Pathfinder campaign and uhh... actually, that's about all I use it for anymore. It doesn't help that I also have a five-inch smartphone that does just about everything better and even has a higher resolution...

I pre-ordered Brink because it looked super neato and Splash Damage made it. Ooooh boy.
