I guess it's because LA Noire had problems on the PS3, and 360 was the only other platform (at launch) so it got the bulk of the players. Whereas many people got the PC version of Skyrim, and the PS3 version of Batman was OK, so the 360 wouldn't dominate as much for those games.

I think part of it is also L.A. Noire has been out for 8 months or so, while Skyrim isn't even 2 months yet. I'm fairly positive Skyrim will pass it someday, but these stats were based on what was played in 2011. It's not exactly fair I guess, but it is what it is.

I'm not surprised Battlefield 3 didn't make the list.

I played Lucha Fury......I had to review it for a site. It was awful

Where's Otomedius Excellent? I thought it might end up in the least played with a quick look list but looking at the numbers it doesn't seem like it will make the cut. Hulk Hogan's Main Event, however, is the new number 2.

Interesting data. I actually own and have played Xotic on Steam. It's not half bad. Maybe they just marketed it poorly for the XBLA version (or not at all would be my guess).
I was just coming to post this. I actually bought it on the Steam holiday sell (it was $2.50) and it isn't half bad. It's honestly a lot like Bulletstorm in that it's about trying to get a lot of points while shooting dudes, though what you do to get those points is dramatically different in both games. Kind of a shame really, but very unsurprising given the rather... exotic art style of the game.

Yup. Somehow I missed both of them. I've updated the raw data as well as the leaderboards. As you mentioned, Hulk takes #2 as the least played game that got a Quick Look. Hulk also is now tied for #6 least played game overall.

This was really interesting. Thanks for compiling all that data together.

I wanted to see if I could find any less played games with quick looks. I can't believe I did.

Cool. I'll get to work adding them in. I guess the lists I used to compile the 2011 releases didn't include some of these Kinect games.

#60 Posted by Shady (503 posts) -

I can't say I'm surprised since most of the Kinect games released in 2011 were shovel ware junk. Add to the fact that most of them got little to no exposure of any sort. The only reason I even remembered those games was thanks to the amazing quick looks. I can always count on the GB crew to play awful motion control (even when they don't use any!) games. That's even more so now with the Kinect.

I thought so too. But, it's not there. I think it came out during PAX East, so it probably got missed that way.

Ahhh poor Star Raiders. Not that it was that good or anything but it still hurts to see probably my favorite game from the Atari days get such a underwhelming remake.

Nice job with them numbers.

Wow. great statistics. It's interesting to see the registered users' gaming activity.

Also it seems licensed games are good for something- finishing them.

The Skyrim vs. L.A. Noire numbers are interesting since Skyrim sold more than double the number of copies of L.A. Noire on the 360. This means that either a lot of Skyrim players on GB did not tie their Xbox Live accounts to the site or that Skyrim managed to capture a lot of more casual game players that probably wouldn't make an account on a gaming website. In any case, it's definitely an interesting result.

Since I recorded the numbers, about 50 new people have started L.A. Noire while over 200 new people have started Skyrim. So, Skyrim will likely pass it at some point.

More people should play Xotic

I picked this up on Steam, haven't had a lot of time with it yet, but it's pretty good and is a fairly unique combo shooter/puzzler.

I'm honestly surprised it's so low on these lists.

Well, maybe, just maybe, one might expect one of the games to have a larger following on Giant Bomb than the other.

I don't know, just a crazy thought.

LOL.

Sorry, I'm a little late with this reply, but why would you expect one game that Brad gave 5 stars to have a "larger following" than another game that Brad gave 5 stars to?

#88 Posted by paulunga (2018 posts) -

I've been told that Rango is actually fairly good. Though it being a kid's game I'm gonna guess the achievements are also pretty easy to get.

#89 Posted by TerraDelu (501 posts) -

DATA PORN! I love it!

It's kind of interesting to see that none of the 10 most played games were in the 10 most completed achievements. Granted, some of that is likely due to achievement design. Anyone that can get Seriously 3.0, Hard to the Core, or My Kung Fu is Stronger are truly crazy. Fuck that.

It's surprising that ilomilo made it into the Top 10 Most Played XBLA Games. I thought more people would have missed it, considering it officially launched in the beginning of January.

It's nice to see that Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes made it into the Top 10 Most Played Games Not Reviewed by Giant Bomb.

If it makes you feel any better, the total number of Xbox Live players on Rayman is now over 2000. So, I guess people are going back to it now that the holiday rush is over.
