Can GTA 4 be played on a Dual core PC?

Today Steam has a great deal that includes GTA 4 and most of the other rockstar games all for only 42.99. But I don't want to buy it if GTA 4 and Episodes from liberty city can't be played.
 
So my question is how well do the GTA 4 games play on a dual core?

I'm running an i7 920 @ stock and I am getting major pop-in on High settings.

an ATI radeon 4850, I would probably play it on a 1280x1024 resolution. "

You should be fine at that resolution. You can probably max the settings, or come close. "

It runs better with more cores, same with most open world games on the pc. However your using a low resolution, that will help. I don't think it's going to run perfect, however depending on the power of your videocard there will be slowdowns yet it's playable.
