Today Steam has a great deal that includes GTA 4 and most of the other rockstar games all for only 42.99. But I don't want to buy it if GTA 4 and Episodes from liberty city can't be played.

So my question is how well do the GTA 4 games play on a dual core?

What's your graphics card?

an ATI radeon 4850, I would probably play it on a 1280x1024 resolution.

You should be fine at that resolution. You can probably max the settings, or come close.

Are you sure? Because I thought GTA 4 ran bad on dual cores.

Well of course a quad would be better. But the system requirements say something like 1.8Ghz dual core. Yours is much better than that. Besides the graphics card is more important.

It runs better with more cores, same with most open world games on the pc. However your using a low resolution, that will help. I don't think it's going to run perfect, however depending on the power of your videocard there will be slowdowns yet it's playable.
