Can't remember what fighting game this is...

I'm currently having trouble finding a particular fighting game I once thought looked awesome. From what I could remember it was a stylized 2d game -- probably with sprites -- and was featured on one of giantbombs videos -- most likely an Unprofessional Friday.

I understand this is probably nothing to go on, but it's driving me crazy that I can't remember what this game was.

Skullgirls?

Skullgirls? One of the BlazBlues? King of Fighters?

I hadn't even realized they covered a BlazBlue here, woah.

I was thinking Skullgirls, which was already mentioned too. And Persona 4 Arena.

No, it wasn't either of those: I checked.

I'm pretty sure it was featured on an unprofessional, or maybe their extra life stream?

Mugen (M.U.G.E.N.) maybe?

@crunchyflies: Have any description of the fighting game characters to go by? I actually can't even remember on command any other 2D fighter they had on a premium stream that wasn't super old school or one of the aforementioned, I feel like that's a rare sight even in premium.

EDIT: Right! I think they did play MUGEN once at the height-ish of Salty Bet.

I think I remember it being a 2d sprite based game; but it was god damn beautiful.

Have you checked Garou: Mark of the Wolves? It's a really good fighting game and I know Jeff has played it a few times on camera.

Pretty sure Jeff brought Mugen to UPF at one point during the Salty Bet phase. Anyway, Jackie Chan in Fists of Fire is another obscure 2D fighting game they played. Do you have a time frame for your memory?

@equitasinvictus: @slag: I'm not entirely sure it was for modern consoles; it might have been for the neo geo for all I remember. It also might have been for a non premium stream, but I'm absolutely sure they played it live.

Can you describe any of the characters, backgrounds, etc? Pretty much anything more specific than just 2D sprite-based fighting game. It wasn't Mark of the Wolves, was it?

You're literally giving nothing other than its a 2d sprite ("probably") fighter.

SOME specific clue would be helpful. With the amount of detail you're giving, it could well be an imagined memory.

The only others I can think of that wouldn't be really obvious would be games like Guilty Gear Xrd, Chaos Code, Melty Blood, or Under Night in Birth, although I can't recall them ever playing any of those on camera before.

You need to give us some more to go on duder. Just saying that it's a stylized 2d fighting game is like asking for a first person shooter with a gun in it... Most fighting games in the last 20 years have been stylized 2d with sprites in some way.

Lethal League?

I remember the bombers playing a match where the characters were inside a flying aircraft.

I'm not entirely sure but the game might have had a large amount of characters to select.

The aircraft makes me think of a recent King of Fighters game.

For everyone who said it was king of fighters, THANK YOU! You were totally right! I went back and watched the UPF with that game in it and I realized it WAS King of Fighters XIII, THANK YOU DUDERS!
