Time Warner Cable company, the owners of Road Runner ISP, are attempting to change how we pay for our internet. Normally you pay a monthly fee and have access to whatever you want on the internet (unless your Chinese) and can download, upload unlimited information, not to mention porn.

But now, you choose how much information you wish to access a month, and pay for any overages per GB you go over.
For more information on the pay structure I refer you to this article:

The idea of capping internet usage disgusts me, and I really hope that these ventures turn out to be failures. Unfortunately, I can see the average uninformed consumer supporting these services just because they have no idea what they are actually spending their money on. The article was a great read BTW.

As a resident of Rochester NY I just want to say thank you for posting this. Words can't describe the rage I feel toward what they are doing to us here and people need to know about this, because once it gets out of the test markets it will be in the mainstream.

I'm so pissed at bandwidth caps. One thing I don't like about moving back to California this summer is that I know I'll have to pay Comcast, and they're gonna have me under a damn cap. I see it as the providers just trying to protect their old and busted business model from an encroaching superior technology. It's like inventing the phone and capping how many minutes you can talk on it, after they notice that people are sending fewer letters. Tech is always going to move forward and bring new things, so find a way to be a part of that new wave or get out of the way.
