Just to start off, no this isn't some fanboy hating on the PS3.
" If you seriously need convincing maybe you should just not buy it, if you cant even find the qualities in the console and in the exclusive titles it has to offer, why bother. Sorry if i sound like an asshole, not my intention. "
Well for 1 it has free online, which is a plus, but there is some lag online. It's interface is a lot quicker and customizable than the Xbox360's and the store loads a lot faster. There are a number of games that will be PS3 exclusives later on too. It has a built in blue-ray player so you can watch HD movies. And it has an HDMI port so you can play in HD unlike the Xbox360 :/
I have both systems so I'm not being a fanboy, I'm just telling the truth >_>.

I can't convince myself to buy one, so there isn't much hope I can convince you.
"@TurboMan said:This. "" Do you have a 360?if no, then yes, you should get a PS3if yes, then are you interested in many of the exclusives on PS3? Like Uncharted, inFAMOUS, MGS4, or God of War 3?if yes, then yes, you should get a PS3"
it also depends how invested you are in stuff like achievements or playing with friends on xbla.
the only other possible factor left is if the exclusives such as uncharted, killzone, GOW3, GT5, MGS4 infamous or plently of other great games like these tickle your fancy, also dont forget the cool psn games that are exlcusive.
sorry if i sound like a fanboy(i kinda am though)
Team Ico, if you have any interest in gaming as a medium; as entertainment and not just fun. Yeah... i have pure love for them.
That may sound pretentious and i still appreciate core fun gameplay, but i've increasingly become more interested in unique stuff, whether it be through atmosphere, art direction, or interesting storytelling. Since playing games like Okami, MGS2+3, ICO, and SotC back on the ps2, and having such profound experiences with them, i've been way more interested in seeking that stuff out. Sony seem to be way more awesome in that regard for me. I loved MGS4 (you really need to have played the other games though), and The Last Guardian and Heavy Rain look fantastic. Then there's a ton of other great exclusives like Uncharted as well as access to all the third-party stuff.
In a similar vein, PSN is pretty good about having interesting titles which just tease me. I wish Sony would release PSN cards to buy here. The thatgamecompany and PixelJunk games speak to me... and then there's Noby Noby Boy.
I'm not sure if i've been over-elaborate here, and maybe you don't care about these aspects in games, but not enough people do. I kinda feel really elitist now, but if you've ever had one of these moments after playing a game then you might understand what I mean. As an aside, if you have a ps2, go and play through ICO and SotC.
If you need convincing then you probably will not be convinced by anyone. Unless you have been living in a cave for the past 2 years.
Uncharted 2 is going to be my single player game this year. Modern Warfare 2 will be the multiplayer for me. And of course Pro Evolution Soccer 2010.
And I also hope GT5 will be coming out. But I doubt it will to be honest.
- Are you too invested in the Xbox? When I bought a PS3 I never played it because everything I really wanted was already on the Xbox. If you feel like you can give both consoles equal playtime then it might be worth a purchase. But don't waste your money if you are unsure.
- Are you going to be using Blu-Ray?
- Are the exclusives on the PS3 worth buying a new system for? (Uncharted 2, God of War III, etc.)
- Do you feel the price will be dropped soon? A lot of other people predict so. Since a lot of hard-hitters are coming out later this year rather than now (save for inFAMOUS) it might be worth putting off a purchase.
To be totally honest if you're looking for a strictly gaming machine and already have a 360 I can't in good conscious convince you.
I absolutley love MGS4, Flower and Noby Noby Boy and the demo for for Infamous is fantastic, but other than those I can't go "OMG of the lineup" which you could get for the 360 if you had one.
Sure there are amazing games on the horizon, but then you might as well wait for the inevitable price drop.
However, it's a fantastic media player. Hooked up to my big ass LCD tv it looks like a a revelation in BD and DivX and and DVD's are presented ina fantastic manner.
So i can't completely convince you as a gaming console at the momet, but as an entertainment hub it's fantasti.
And I consider myself at least slightly objective since I have a Wii, 360, PS3 and Dreamcast hooked to my set-up at the moment
I don't have any reasons, i bought one cheap like 3 months ago, went through most of the exclusives and now it is siting in my living room gathering dust. The only time i use it is when i watch blu-rays.
If you are already investing a good amount of time on your 360 don't spend money on a new console, use some money on buying games you might have missed on 360.
If you still don't have reasons to buy PS3 at this point, I don't think that "convincing" you would really work. If you want one, great. If you don't want one, that's fine too. But if you're asking for people to convince you to buy one, then I'm thinking you probably don't want one. And I don't think we should be pressuring you into buying a system you don't want.
Yeah, you might get a price cut around Christmas. I'd look into getting one then. I bought mine about a year ago and I haven't really touched it aside from a few games. All of my multi-platform games get played on my 360. But, with all of the kick ass exclusives that were announced, I'm glad I already have one.
There are a lot of nice feature that the ps3 has that the 360 does not, such as built in wi-fi and free online play, and if you have to have the sony first party games then you should definitely purchase one, but that doesn't sound like the case for you. To be honest I'm perplexed why you're even asking this question. Do you feel compelled to buy one or something?
