After reading an article on Destructoid, I must sadly say that L4D2 seems every bit as mediocre as we expected it to be and every bit as real as we hoped it wouldn't be. The writer says that some minor improvements (melee weapons, a new "gauntlet" style crescendo scenario, additional Special Infected, etc.) are not enough to warrant this sequel, labeled by most as "too soon." Time will tell, but L4D2 already appears to be in the red.

Source.

"Everything We Expect it to Be"

Joke based upon what some people here were saying.

I don't think they can tell from a single playtest considering the game's designed to fix all the underlying issues of the original and in short how monotonous it gets after a while. I agree it should just be DLC or an expansion (and I believe it may be just that in the end) and apply the updates to the existing content as well, but calling it mediocre while it probably is tons better than the first when you actually get into it, is way over the top and a very hasty conclusion to make. But hey, it's Destructoid.

So it's going to be very underwhelming.

@End_Boss: I agree with you/destructoid. This is not worth my $60.

Hm, considering the changes mainly focus on re playability, a short play through won't show the value of the experience.

Valve haven't made a rotten one yet, not going to start anytime soon.

I could play some more l4d no problem. People complain about the legnth of the old one, but its so damn replayable - that was the point of the AI director. l4d 2 just means i'll get a load of new content in one place rather than spread across multiple expensive dlc packages.
