Yup, got it with dk64. I remember i was confused as hell about it for a while, then always being annoyed when i wanted to take dk to a friends and having to take that damn thing with it.
Mine's still in my N64. Before i got one, i rented DK64 and it came with the game, the expansion pak, and that little gray plastic thing. We were told that if any or all of these three items were not included upon return, we would be charged for a new game. I had no issues with this, but i imagine someone out there lost that plastic tab and were shocked when they were being charged for a replacement game, even though they returned the game and expansion pak intact.

I was smart, plagued my parents with buying that before I got Majora's Mask. As I remember, it was expensive, but I don't think I fully understood the value of money back then. I thought anything under $50 was cheap.
Like a lot of other people in this thread mine came with Donkey Kong 64 and I mean if you were going to play Perfect Dark there was no point buying that game if you didn't have the expansion pak because I believe you could only play 2 player vs without it.
@GetEveryone: Pretty sure you could play without it but it was very limited. Like no single player, 2-player multiplayer only and no bots or something like that.
