I would change mine to red but red looks like shit and green is much cooler looking so :/
I think they're just there to mark. Like, right now I do most of my video gaming on Sony platforms. Next generation when I'll probably shift over to Microsoft I'll go green, whatever. So I just use it as an indication to which is my primary platform in case anybody else is interested.
When I first joined the site I actually thought that they contained some sort of importance. Right now all I think of them is some what of a decoration.

FYI, I built my own gaming PC with most things custom...from the PSU down to the giant cpu heatsink. Â I also own a Mac Mini -- with which I also tinkered (changed ram/etc.). Â Alas, my PC gaming license must be revoked.

Knock it off - the alignments are not "factions" and there is no console wars forum on Giant Bomb. Stop trying to turn every other thread you participate in into PC vs Consoles, please.

 Correct me if I'm wrong.  I remember a long time ago there was some minion/sidekick thing going on that had to do with your alignment. I think they just changed it to follow system that we all know and love.

I see.   You can however emulate many of the other consoles (up to around PS2) on current hardware.  In fact, I tried Persona 4 the other day in p***2 with a PS3 controller in Windows 7 on my ridiculous looking fan-ridden PC.
Well, what about having competitions depending on color? Like whichever "faction" does a set of quests first, gets as a faction a couple of bonus points. Could be fun?

I think we need peaceful co-existence, not squabbles over silly quests or "wars" of any kind. Besides, there are only about 100 PC dudes around as far as I can tell and PS3 and Wii are in the minority as well.
Every three years the moderators purge the world of one of the alignments and erase everybody's memory of both the platform that alignment supported and of Giant Bomb. The site then restarts anew ready for the whole process to be repeated over in an effort to once and for all eliminate console wars on online forums. But change it to what? There is no color that makes one think of a PC - it's probably easier just to slab a small pirate flag on top of our avatar, making the console people feel all righteous.
