Now I feel even worse about the new Dante. I never once thought about setting it in the old west. Red Dead Devil May Cry. Or Dead May Redemption. Or Red May Cry. Or Red Devil Revolver. (Actually, that last one wasn't that bad).
No, I don't like his new look. But I am trying to not let that fill me with blind rage. As long as the style from the previous entries are still there, I'm game.
I dig the British punk rocker look, but I'm not down with it being Dante. Why not just make it a new character if your going to change everything about him.
I can't quite put my finger on what I don't like about the character design but I'm just not a fan of it, maybe he looks a little too unremarkable to me for a protagonist.

What this man says makes sense. "Brittish punk rocker look". That is kind of the vibe you get from this new Dante. I have NO idea why every freaking persons says he looks like something from Twilight. Have these people even seen Twilight? It just seems like something a person said and now everyone think "Haha, yeah...that's funny, I will say that too!". As someone else pointed out. Dante was already kind of emo in the design department BUT he never really been emo in the way he acts and this guys does not seem to be either. I shall also add that I loved the old Dante design. During the first period I thought Dante was a really bad ass looking guy. Now it's mostly feels familiar and nothing more so a drastic re-design may be a good move.
What do I think? I had to watch the trailer a couple of times and then the design started to sink in. This is quite a departure from 2001-Dante but that makes is really exciting actually. It really shows that it's Ninja Theory that have designed the character. Just look at Enslaved and then Dante. I'm ready for something new. Devil May Cry 4 was not that special and it didn't sell well either I believe so I understand if Capcom want to blow new life into the franchise. For once we may get a very non japanese/convuluted story in this IP as a result that this game is made by Ninja Theory that has a lot of experience with cinematics in games. I hope they nail the action part too and makes it feel fresh and new.
I'm hopefull and is quite excited of this new direction.

You don't say. Besides, DMC is a shitty franchise to whine about, it's never taken itself seriously, and even if it did, this is clearly prequel territory so a lot of your complaints will probably be addressed at some point as he becomes the Dante you recall.
No, he is just to far from the original concept of what that character was supposed to be, i sure hope they do a recall like they did for infamous 2 and give us something better. Its not even the fact he dosent look like Dante, its the fact that he fell out of the ugly tree and hit every single branch on the way down and then, landed on his face!
Not really, I'm ok with the hair color now that I saw the white on the top, but the hairstyle is pretty ugly. I'm still very much looking forward to the game.
With this being a reboot apparently I'm worried other characters like Trish, Lady, Vergil, and Nero are gonna be reimagined or written out completely.
I wish they had just continued the story started with Devil May Cry 4, there's still a lot of details left in the air about Nero and the Devil Bringer.
