Respect really isn't a word I would use to describe my feelings towards any console.

Respect? Haha, no. I can be intrigued by them, sometimes, but I'm okay with the fact that I was born late enough to not have the opportunity to experiences the NES, SNES, Dreamcast, etc. in a timely fashion.

Well, that's just wrong. You have no feelings toward any console owned?

Respect is a strange word to use in this context, but sure, I'll go with it.

I respect any platform that helped lead to where we are today. Systems like the Atari 2600 and the Intellivision were hugely influential, even though I never got the chance to play them.

Respect? No. The only ones I haven't owned or played were the ones that sucked and failed that no one talks about.

Of course. I mean, I have mad respect for the WonderSwan.

And the Lynx. Oh wait, I've played one of those.

Agreed. I've noticed people use that word in a lot of weird ways. I've also noticed that people under 20 like to use it a lot.

Yea sure as long as they're deserving of it. Often I don't buy consoles cause I can't afford to make the purchase, not because I don't like them.

@Claude: No, I've never proclaimed to be cool haha. Just old (well, ok not that old but older then some) and way to into video games.

They call me mad, but at least I enjoy myself.

and just to be clear, the only systems I dont "respect" are the ones that did nothing for the medium which is why they failed. I guess a good example would be Gizmondo or maybe even the Pippin.

I don't know a single person that owned a Neo Geo back in the day, but you gotta have some respect for the recockulously huge sprites that thing used to push.

@Cornman89: Ya, Adam Corrola says (used to say?) that. I remember when I was in high school staying up late to listen to love line and him saying that. Good times.

I don't think I've ever held a SNES controller in my hands. I may be misremembering (I always thought that was a word) but I definitely never owned one. But other than that, I never played an Atari 2600 or an Amiga or anything from that generation but I definitely have respect for them.

Respect is not the word I would use. I don't respect any console, what is there to respect? I can appreciate them for the games they had or what they did to gameing as a whole.

As many said, I don't know if I'd call it "respect", but I acknowledge the strong points of consoles like the Dreamcast or the PS2, even though I never owned any of them.

This post makes the most sense in this thread so I'm just gonna quote it.

Does that not mean respect. Am I missing something, here?
