how much his popularity would grow? Hes evolved to almost celebrity status, all from just being a video game journalist. Same goes for the rest of the bomb crew. It seems people in video games seem to be geting more and more popular. Denis Dyak, Cliffy B, Dan Shoe to name a few. Do you guys think this is because video games are getting bigger and bigger each year?
Do you think Jeff could even forsee...
"Who's Dan Shoe?"Dan Hsu (It's pronounced "shoe"), former editor-in-chief of EGM.

He's (or was) a pretty prolific games journalist
You're using the term celebrity pretty loosely. You can go to a random guy on the street and ask him who Jeff Gerstmann is... and they'll have no clue what you're talking about.
He's a quasi-celebrity in the gaming world, but the only mainstream celebrities in the gaming world out there would probably be Miyamoto and Will Wright.
"I don't think he got fired to become an internet legend, no."I wasnt implying that being fired gave him his fame cause he was pretty darn popular on the hotspot and everything else he did. I suppose I shouldve been more specific I sort of ment in the Gaming Comnunity
The fact that Jeff and the rest of the Giant Bomb staff are actually good at reviews helps. Unlike Gamespot which is starting to just pump out crap after waiting weeks for a review of a recent game.
While I know all those other guys you mentioned, I wouldn't recognize them in person. Jeff, you better put on your red-striped shirt, pal, I bet I could easily spot you out in a crowd.
" I wish this site become more popular, even more that NeoGaf."In due time.. in due time.
Also its spelled Gerstmann
I think i have a bit of Gerstmann Syndrome :P
Sure video games are getting more attention these days. As for celebrity status for any of the above named guys I would say your wrong on that, I mean in there profession they are known and respected and we the gamer know and respect them as well, but they are not household names or anything.
As for the Jeff chatter, I am glad he ran Kane and Lynch threw the mud and moved on, all b.s. aside this site is by far better then the aforementioned site.
I dont think he's a celebrity to the real world, you're not going to see paparrazi shots of him in tabloids next to lindsay lohan and britney spears.
But as le internet grows and more video is getting thrown about and the growth of podcasts and various other mediums, then i think compared to say, 5 years ago, there are a lot more well known developers, but only within this part of society.
i didn't even know the names you've given. and no I don't think they would get to the celebrity status since they are only on the interent and in a field that doesn't attract all ages and types of people. you wanna get a perspective? compare one of them to Will Smith?? or any popular TV celebrity for that matter
