I play a lot of games, and about half of those I play online with other people. I wear my headset about 15% of the time I play online with random people. The amount of helpful people with mics compared to the nonsense is maddening. I know a bunch of people dislike when others do not use a headset when playing a multiplayer game but all the fools ruined it for me. So, what do you do when playing with random people online? Mic or no mic?

I sometimes wear the headset in the hopes there'll be some dramariffic argument going on or something, but I never use it to speak, lest I get pulled into the 'conversation' I am trying to listen in on

I use a mic most of the time, the only competitive multi-player game I ever play anymore is Modern Warfare 2.
I usually just don't talk, and the idiots don't bother me too much, if they do I just mute them.

The rest of the time it's Co-op type stuff, so of course I use a mic for that.

Mostly for coop, or when I'm ina competitive match with friends, and if they have a headset too. Don't want them to be typin via the PSN for me to reply on my headset, sound lika crazy.

Alot of the time I'm playing with people, so if it's something like CoD or Left4Dead then yeah, it's annoying setting it up on the PC, we're always using random vent details, and it's a chore to find them out =/ Then my talk binds always seem to clash with something else =(

No. Too many assholes online for me to care what people are saying. Most people don't say anything important anyway?

I'm 14 years old. Does that answer your question?

Yes, you shouldn't play with me.

Only when playing with friends or in a co op game mode. Don't enjoy talking to random idiots online.

I don't usually as I'm never in a mood to speak but I've decided to plug in now I've started to play Halo 3 as that's the only game people use a mic.

Yeah. It just became a habit if im gonna sign on live to play to just grab and put on the mic in case a friend wants to talk. Even if they dont I still use the mic since I play a lot of Halo and people arnt the most competitent of teamates i still tend to call stuff out to try and help the team.

I used to, then my dog decided it was a wonderful idea to chew my headset. I've never gotten around to replacing it.

Most of the time I don't wear a headset for online play. Sometimes I'll use it when I'm playing Halo 3 but most games don't have people communicating in them and when people are communicating it's not usually very constructive.

If I play on xbox live I tend not to since it's full of people just shouting random crap or having an argument, or some whiny american 12 year old, so I don't bother joining in and thus don't wear it. Only ever do if i'm talking to friends in party chat or something.

On PC however, I wear it all the time since it feels right and I can actually hear footsteps from where they come from and people tend to use it for its proper use, instead of abusing it.

Only when I play TF2, and plan on winning.  I'll plug it in for L4D if everybody else has mics.

Usually I'll wear my headset, at least for Xbox games I will, since it's much easier to just plug the wired headset in than to grab my bluetooth & sync it for my PS3.

For the most part, I use my headset as a free telephone, since I'll just party chat with a couple of my friends online while I toy around with Peggle or something.

I changed the settings so that I can't hear strangers. Plus I hate wearing the headset, it makes me feel and look stupid. I try to wear it as little as possible.
