Does anyone else play games alone?

I was wondering if there was other people who generally played games alone as that's what I do most of the time. I only ever had a few friends on my list of contacts but I have had to play games alone or with strangers that you are matched with online for the majority of time.

So are there any of you that play alone and how do you feel about it?

For me the experience of playing alone is fine if its an offline game like Zelda or something like that but I seem to lack interest in competing against strangers in COD or Battlefield if I have no one to share it with or speak to about what I have done and what I am doing.

I am less likely to try things in games like harder settings or challenges as I won't have anyone to tell about it. Sad.

I always play alone, i don't have anybody on my friends list. I just don't play those kind of games i guess I'm all about the single player. I really have no interest at all in multiplayer of any kind.

Depends on the game. If it's multiplayer I'll play with friends. I play a lot of LoL, and I pretty much just DON'T play unless I have a group. Random strangers are assholes.

I almost always play games alone. I enjoy playing singleplayer games more than multiplayer so I spend most game time alone.

Well of coarse I do, I also like to watch porn by myself too.

Edit: I do play multiplayer games. I don't have a problem playing with other people.

I was the type of person who would be in clans and guilds when I was between ages 14-21 but I've changed and now I can't imagine being in such a thing again. I still play multiplayer games from time to time, just not with any people I know.

So who else...plays multiplayer games.

I'm almost exclusively set to offline on Steam. When I'm actually logged in I get too many people messaging me. It's distracting.

99% of my gaming is done alone. I only have one controller for ps3 and one controller for xbox 360. only gaming i do multiplayer is when i play move games with my wife or daughter and that's not even often. I LOVE deep single player games.

I mostly play single player games, and multiplayer games only with strangers, unless a friend of mine asks to play a game with me I usually go with random strangers.

I almost always play alone. Even multiplayer games (League, Halo, etc) I tend to just do solo matchmaking. Sometimes I'll play with my friends, but I usually play a game or two, then take a break, then another game or two. I don't go for crazy marathon sessions, but my friends usually do, so that doesn't really line up.

I play almost exclusively alone, even in stuff like L4D2 and Borderlands. Though I have found The Last of Us multiplayer compelling enough to play 50 or so hours of recently.

I do wonder if the bigger focus on multiplayer games and the social aspects of the systems in the next generation will kind of force people to play more online stuff to get the most from the games. Stuff like Destiny and Titanfall obviously will but hopefully there will be plenty of single player stuff for the more...curmudgeonly among us.

Almost always. I like multiplayer just fine, I just prefer gaming to be a solitary experience.

That said, I love playing bad games with friends so that we may poke fun at them.

Almost always, except for one period in my life when I had a roommate who enjoyed watching games more than playing them, so he'd watch me play RPGs and comment on the plot and stuff--it was great fun! But that's a rare case.

I think that might be an issue with these new machines. I won't ever play in a massive team on Battlefield 4 were I am communicating and carrying out instructions etc. I will be playing myself and listening and if there is any communications people are trying to make I will work as a team if they seem decent.

Ayup, if we don't count WoW. I used to have a group of people to play UT2K4, Battlefield 1942, RB6, Operation Flashpoint and the likes together with, but that was years ago. Back then I might've also played with randoms at times, but most of the times there was at least one person from that group...but like said, those times are long-gone by now and I do miss them occasionally. The last multiplayer game I've played with random peeps in the recent years was Max Payne 3. Was decent fun, but didn't play it for longer than a week or so.

So single player it is for me! Enjoyable campaign/story > Multiplayer.

Yup. I play lots of single player games, so it's fine. I don't have many RL friends who game, and most of them have 360 instead of PS3, so I stick to offline mode most of the time (and I don't like multi-player as much anyway!)

I play alone like 90% of the time. I play some Battlefield multiplayer while listening to the Bombcast so I have something to do. With The Last of Us, I happened to be in a lobby with people who use mics so if I ever play that I don't play it alone anymore. But it depends on the game and the system. I enjoy solo games more.

Its all i know, been years since i had friends interested in games so thats all i have.

I play online games with friends all the time nowadays.

Apart from some multiplayer shooters and the occasional MMO (which I invariably play through with solo builds), the vast, vast majority of my gaming is single player in nature.

It all depends on the game and how I am feeling at the time.

I usually end up playing multiplayer games "alone" because most of my friends own consoles and I'm all up in that PC business (though I do plan on getting a console someday) This leads to me only playing certain games online because I find some are fine playing with randoms and some you really need to be playing with friends to enjoy.

Even when it's multiplayer most of the time it's with total strangers that i make sure to mute if possible.

Yep and I prefer it that way.

Exceptions are for games like Borderlands and Dead Island but I don't have PC gamer friends.
