Does anyone know how to legally obtain old LucasArts games?

With games like Day of the tentacle, Curse of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango not being on steam, does anyone know of another way to get the games without pirating them? They go for too much on eBay and I don't really want to wait around for them.

Thanks.

On one hand I want to say if you tried everything, including calling Tim Shaffer himself and asking him if he will sell you his copy of Grim Fandango. then maybe pirating isnt so bad.

Search local flea markets and swap meets if you don't want to pay eBay-prices. I got the first three Monkey Island-games in some weird box set for about two bucks on the local flea market one day.

Be aware though, Grim Fandango is basically impossible to get running on modern systems. Or at least that's the way it used to be.

Curse of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango are two phenomally exemplary games. I would love to play those games again with a tabula rasa.

Although it’s not much, you can get the first two Monkey Island games on Steam. They’re the recent remakes though which give you an option to switch between original graphics and updated visuals. I thought they were great but if you’re looking for the entire experience (i.e. you even want the menu/intro screen to be exactly like the originals) then piracy is probably the easiest option. That or scrounge around flea markets like Vieras recommended.

:( Unfortunately, no. I doubt it will help much, but you could vote for the games on GOG. Maybe LucasArts will finally get the hint...

In the meantime, I recommend playing Fate of Atlantis, which is available for purchase - seriously, that game is great.

@NekuSakuraba
You won't have any considerable difficulty getting Grim Fandango operating agreeably.

Amazon should have both in used states. Also, a SE for Monkey Island was released on PC in 2011.

There's a fork of Scummvm called ResidualVM which will let you run Grim Fandango on modern systems extremely easily.

I really don't understand why they haven't released all these on Steam, Wii, DS and for tablets. The interface would work great for all those with minimal effort. I played Sam & Max Hit The Road on an android tablet on the weekend and it worked great.

There is no way to get them without pirating.

LucasArts doesn't care. If they cared, they would've released it digitally years ago. It's not like they're ignorant.

I don't know if it makes me a bad person but I own, but have lost, all of the Monkey Island games, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max, and a few others of the classic adventure games and have never really felt guilt at pirating them to play them again.

Fuck man every time I see the Sam and Max collection on steam sales, I hope to find Hit The Road and never do.

I don't get it either. Lucasarts was on a role a few years ago with releasing Loom, the Indy Jones point n click adventures, and The Dig on Steam. I think shortly after that there was a shake up at Lucasarts and the president resigned and the release of these classic games came to a halt.

They're sitting on a fucking goldmine with the X-Wing/TIE Fighter series and possibly the Tentacle and Fandango series. I want those and Full Throttle!

Just came back to say that hopefully 2013 will be the year they hit Steam, although, it doesn't look very likely. :(
