After launching a game from Origin I get this message, what a fucking joke XD
EA Origin is a joke
EA just want to kill pc gaming by making bad software so we buy their shit on consoles. ITS ALL PART OF THEIR PLAAAAN MAAAAN! DON'T LET THE MACHINES CONTROL YOU MIIIIND, FIGHT THE POWERRRR.
but yea, maybe they should hire some people who know how to make good software before they force this kind of thing on people. either way it helped me decide to not buy bf3.
And THAT kids, is why people hate EA. And we remind you, never buy their shiz. You may now return to your classroom prisons and let the eduacated teachers that is steared by the government, take away your creativity and make you ONE OF US. (sorry got a tad bt angry on the norwegian government -.-) But EA sux, Y U BUY THEIR SHIZ?

Steam does the same thing, only difference is you can opt out of steam doing that. Which the vast majority people haven't opted out. Because unless you're into fear mongering it literally doesn't matter.

So is Origin's launch better or worse than Steam's in the early aughts? I wasn't into PC gaming at the time but I heard negative things about Steam back at the time.
Better. Steam hardly even worked when it came out.
And look where Steam is now. Give Origin time to grow, folks. However, I can understand the frustration when you want to play something digital you paid for and it's borking out on you.
I have an idea! start a online petition...
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/create.html Care2Petitionsite has everything you need to start a petition for:
-animal wellfare
-education
-human rights
-politics
-evil corporation ruled by Illuminati trying to take control of your gaming needs (name EA)
this was the issue i had when trying to BF3 BETA, never got to play it. Tried everything.

So you're saying one shitty launch justifies another? pppftttt Steam's been around for 6 years, EA's had plenty of time to learn how to launch and run a digital service. Spin it some more bonor!

Nope. I'm just saying that it seems to me that nothing ever launches perfectly. It shouldn't be that way, but it's the way it is. Whether it's software or hardware there will always be room for improvement in time with patches, firmware updates, etc... It's shitty, but in time things will get better. I'm lookin' at you, Rage on PC...

Tried reinstalling? That sucks. Never had any issues with it, but that sucks that something as silly as that would happen. But, it is a fairly fresh piece of software. Better than the launch of steam, that's for damn sure.
After playing the BF3 BETA I can say that everything about Origin could be called a joke.
Who the hell thought people wanted to launch their games through the browser anyway? Stupid move EA.
The biggest joke about Origin is how you can't redeem digital versions of games released before 2009. That's a whole lot of EA titles that you can't add to your library, and instead have to repurchase if you want to have digital copies.

@bonorbitz: A decent reply I'll accept, tho I'm never a fan of the bury your head in the sand and just accept it approach.
Nor should you be. I like to do my part and not purchase or download anything that I know suffers from a shitty launch until things improve. I'm not going to blindly throw my money at crap. I look at you again, Rage on PC.
Yeah tried uninstalling/reinstalling Origin, Browser plugin and BF3 BETA. Nothing worked.@pornstorestiffi said:

Is there a way to stop it from starting when my PC first boots, other than brute forcing it with Windows? I can't find anything in the options menu. This thing is such a piece of crap. It increases the time until my PC is usable on login by at least 2 minutes. I used to be able to boot up and immediately do whatever I want but now if I do that before Origin starts itself, it freezes or slows down everything else to the point of me thinking my PC has locked up. I'm thinking BF3 isn't worth the hassle of this software.

The hell does the battlelog have to do with Origin?
Nothing, but they both can be connected under the heading "Things EA breaks that don't actually need fixing".

But the battlelog works fine.. and it's not like it's slower than the regular way of doing things.. it's probably actually a bit faster.

Click the cog icon, settings, general tab and scroll down (the scrollbar is almost invisible). There's an option for automatically launching the program there. Alternatively, wait until you're prompted for an Origin update - you'll have to reinstall it and the "automatically launch" option will be pre-selected for you, which you'll have to uncheck.
Why can't Battlelog run from Origin instead of from your browser? That's what I don't get. It has inadvertently opened up in tabs I had open for other things (in one case a school related thing, but luckily it autosaved). I dislike Battlelog. It feels far too limited. Plus I hate having to reopen the game every time I play. On BC2 (or almost any PC shooter ever made prior to the Newer COD games), if I leave a game I'm instantly back at the server list and can pick a new one immediately. Why have an intermediate step?

Ok thanks. I didn't even see that scroll bar.
Edit: Sorry if I sound harsh about Origin, it's just that I guess I've been spoiled by BF2, TF2, CS:S, where I can pick everything, and get servers with crazy good pings.
Origin is a fantastic service - it allows me to easily avoid all EA products that I might have encountered in places I actually care to visit.
Origin stops me from needing disks for all my old retail EA games and for that I think the service is great.
I misread that as "animal warfare" which would have been infinitely more awesome.Care2Petitionsite has everything you need to start a petition for:

I had to call EA to get them to remove my account after they tried to force Origin on me by converting my ancient ea account to one.
Explain this please.
