Early Giant Bomb Criticism

I know their is a Bug Reporting section, but that's not really what I'm getting at.  I know everybody is enjoying their first day of exploring the website, and I know this topic will likely get buried do the awesome amount of topics(what a huge opening day!) but I was wondering what, if any, early criticism anyone has for the site.  I've seen people ALREADY praise this site as being the "best gaming site;" please, keep that stuff out of here.  Lets get real here.

The only early potential problem I see with the site is the entire editing pages thing.  Quite honestly, I do not trust Luchadeer.  His mask is awesome, but his eyes are deadpan and I'm not sure whether or not he would kill me in my sleep.  It seems like Luchadeer has lots of approving to do, and I fear that eventually he will get bogged down among everything, and eventually the individual pages will get the wikipedia effect.  Luchadeer has lots of work under his belt.


Any other criticism from early fans of the website?  Keep it civil please =)

PS- No coming in here to say "It's great!" just so you can get your posts up :P

The forums aren't very organized and the lack of signatures is disappointing. Other then that the site is pretty good.

I do enjoy it, but I see it more as a resource than a place to get my gaming info. It's seems like a videogame wikipedia with an editorial staff. It'll be something I check alongside the bigger sites.

The signature thing is being asked for rabidly, so I think that will be settled soon.

As for luchadeer, nobody talks mess about luchadeer

The forums aren't very organized, but it seems like most of the sections are just there as placeholders for now.  The forums will evolve over time as the staff, and later on, the moderators, figure out what works and what doesn't.  There are going to be growing pains for some time.

I honestly don't see the point in signatures. They just add loads of clutter, something that wouldn't like to see on a site like this.

Sigs are worthless

I really like the site, and it's only the first day. The things that are wrong can be fixed and changed. The forums could use some work, and the site still gives some errors sometimes. But I've noticed that the site isn't as slow as it used to be.

They should allow us to upload images that are small. Our avatars resize to 75x75, but I can't upload an image that is 100x100 to use as an avatar? >_>

That's my only real non-forums complain so far.

Yeah, I agree about the cluttering of the forums etc.  Also when you look at other people's posts, it would be more convenient if the poster's ID was highlighted/ more prominant.

 A few minor technical niggles, like that damn image upload freezing, bug me, but aside from that it seems to work well.

Except when I tried to insert an image after about four paragraphs into my Cortana image and the whole site froze completely. Luckily I managed to salvage my article, but it was still a pretty major annoyance.

everyone who is saying the forums aren't organized can you explain a little more what you mean? I am not understanding, I mean every single section of the website has it's very own forum which seems organized to me...???

The forums need to more organized. However, I think no signatures is the right choice. It's very distracting and would make things take much longer to load. However, it's your opinion, and yours is yours.

It's like a zoo without any fences or zookeepers... just a bunch of animals running around.  It is the first day so I wasn't expecting everything to be hunky-dory... there are some rough edges that need to be smoothed out.

Single-line text-only sigs would be fine and cool.

The criticism I have for the site is the obvious (performance needs to pick up, we've seen it go steadily up for the whole day but still needs improvement), and the fact that some features can't be accessed as easily as they should, or aren't obvious in their fuction, such as lists and status.

Keep this place sig-less please.  It's like giving a full description of yourself every single time you post a comment.

I wonder how the moderators are going to keep up with the massive influx of page edits.  If they just start handing out editing privileges to every Tom Nook, Dick and Mary (Dick), just because they're overwhelmed by this early bombardment, things could go south pretty quick.

But oh how I yearn to see what it becomes.

I wouldn't mind signatures, as long as they're kept reasonable.  It would also be nice to have a place to put a gamer card, even if it has to be in a smaller "bar" form.

[edit] Oh yea, we also are likely going to need a "report post" function sometime in the future.  Haven't seen anything too bad here just yet, but no forum is completely free of trolls and asshole internet tough guys.

May forums give you the option to not display signatures. So if signatures do arrive here, you should still be able to turn them off. I won't, but people can have that option.

The forums are kinda cluttered. I'm mostly here for the content that Jeff, Ryan, Brad, and Vinny will continue to post, and not as much for the wiki. I'll try to add a few things though.

Users should be able to approve changes to pages. If it gets lots of approvals, it can be added.

Too many dudes making pointless and terrible threads for points. Calling all mods, calling all mods...

I find it a bit hard in place's to navigate and I feel a little baffled from time to time. But I am a bit thick though, so maybe its just moi.
The main problem for me is it keeps going white, the screen that is! god its 6.00 am and I'm still up. TIME FOR BED I THINK!

I like it for it's gaming related categories wiki but pop out menus aren't responsive at times.

I have to compaints.

1) There isn't a news section. Sure, the blog will likely take it's place, but every good gaming site needs a news section.

2) I would like to be able to upload pics from the internet; everytime I want to use an image, I have to save it to my computer....I think thats kinda of dumb

ok.....I think sigs would be nice too

I'm pretty sure sooner or later all the editing is going to create some edit-conflicts among certain section of articles...

I can't find my way around the forum very well but other than that the site is really cool. I'm tempted to make it my homepage. :D

I like the site but I don't like whenever I jump into a thread or a blog post it brings me all the way to the bottom and then I have to scroll all the way up again.  Maybe I'm just not doing something right.

I think I've already gotten it out of my system but:

1.) The forums organization is absolutely bizarre...if not outright non-existent.  Not intuitive to find your way around.

2.) The colorscheme in general is hard on the eyes and unpleasant to look at.  Why so much black?  More contrast than a pair of eyes will want to take for very long.

3.) Web 2.0  - I'm sure people meant well...but someone over-extended themself trying to use all the fancy new internet tricks.  Web 2.0 is cute...but it has to be done really well to make it work.  I don't know if this is one of those shining examples of excellence.

4.) What's up with adding pictures to posts?  You have to put them in a f'ing flicker account or add them to your personal profile?  Why can't I just make a traditional link?  That's going to get irritating real fast.

My biggest problem is that the site is difficult to get used to and not everything is readily apparent. It took me a good 10-15 minutes to figure out how to add a concept (I mean a general concept, not just attaching a pre-existing on to a game)

I'm sure things will eventually get better I don't know if anyone was expecting soooo many people to be on this site at once and so quickly going crazy adding stuff, so many things I have small complaints about should already be in the works of getting fixed, and besides this is just the BETA guys

1) color scheme it's not how I remember Giantbomb Blog someone sign my petition to add color to this site

2)The forums are a bit cluttered something Jeff already expressed concern about in a podcast so I imagine that when moderators are on here and get used to the program that that will be all fixed

3)No news section needed on a gaming site news is being refreshed all the time especially in the video game world and without one here I'd need to go on another site for that and have this site as the COOL but not informative site
