With Jeff apparently out of ideas for the series I thought it might help to have the community jog their memories with some suggestions.
 Here's my two:
StarFlight for the Genesis
Uniracers for the SNES

Both these games various GB Crew have admitted having a fondness for and I don't blame them.

FF2.

Populous.

The Sim games, most had redeemable qualities.

Vigilante 8.

idunno, they should all probably be games jeff actually likes, right?

I'd suggest fallout 1 and 2 but I think that falls outside the comfort zone of everyone except Dave.

Metal Gear 1 or 2 (im talking ols school metal gear not the solid ... altho Metal Gear Solid should be there too but I guess Jeff is going through the oldest systems first)

#8 Posted by Romination (2777 posts) -

So I thought the point was to kind of highlight their favorite, somewhat forgotten games. Like, you know, Target Earth. This doesn't seem like something that suggestions would really help- I mean, would watching them play though, I dunno, the original Metroid wouldn't help us glean anything interesting from it, but the ones he's shown so far are cool old, kind of forgotten, games.

How 'bout NiGHTS ?

#11 Posted by beepmachine (618 posts) -

I think Jeff should just go through his collection for now. If the goal is to have a video of every game, just dive in and don't worry about being selective.

#12 Posted by Icicle7x3 (1201 posts) -

Persona 4

Lost Vikings

#13 Posted by bobafettjm (1560 posts) -

I think he should just pick a system, then go over to whatever is housing that systems games and pick one at random.

@Romination
Well the idea for the thread was to suggest games that they may have mentioned enjoying before but may have slipped their minds.

I thought the idea was that Jeff would show us games he really enjoyed when he was younger and what influenced him in terms of video games. A Giantbomb 'origin story' if you will. I think Jeff just needs to pick out games that were particularly influential to him and talk about them, there has to be more than two.

Yeah I thought this was what it was going for, Jeff would show off games he thought were good and influential, and potentially other staffers would too. Not a fan request quick look kinda thing.

Indeed.

There is already video of Uniracers, although it's part of the SNES livestream. It would make sense to rip that sequence and drop it into the Encyclopedia Bombastica, IMO. Same goes for Tetris Battle Gaiden.

Yeah, I think this is a good thread idea. Not because our voices will ever be heard (although people will probably read the thread every once in a while,) but just because it'll be fun for us.

I trust Jeff to reach into one of his many bins of games and pull out something both awesome and obscure.

All Amiga, all the time! The games would show insanely well in this feature, you can see everything in just a few minutes, and the graphics were mind blowing.

CyberCop

The Killing Gameshow

Altered Beast

Enlightenment (one of Bull Frogs early games)

I think even Dave didn't care for the combat in the old Fallouts, which is a shame because they really are incredible RPGs.

Copypaste from the ILM comments section where they ask for suggesitons:

If you're looking for more classic games for Encyclopedia Bombastica, then the trio of SimCity 2000, Streets of SimCity, and SimCopter would make an awesome set.

Everybody knows about SimCity 2000, but I'd gamble that most of the users on this site are too young to have played it in its prime. It would be cool to show how far it's come since then once the new SimCity comes out. And once you have a basic city built, you can import it into Streets of SimCity and race through that motherfucker. Then when you get bored of that in five minutes, you can bust out SimCopter and put out fires, escort people to hospitals, and track down criminals in the same city. Or you could just construct a city with the SimCity Urban Renewal Kit if you don't have the patience to do it naturally in SC2k; although best part about Streets and Copter is that the city is something you've become familiar with in isometric then taken into full 3D.

Also how crazy would it be if Criterion made a new Streets of SimCity that imported SimCity 2013 maps?

The other day I had this very thought that if I had to pick 5 older, under appreciated games to share with everyone, what would it be. This is what I came up with...

Super Baseball 2020 (Maybe not lesser known but I'd say it's under appreciated)

Baby Boomer (I swear I will knife fight anyone who wants to argue this one with me)

Skitchin'

Raze's Hell (Not older, and maybe it's not as lesser known as I think, but it's actually super dark and super challenging)

The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants (See note on Baby Boomer)

North and South or Nightshade for the NES!!!!

Skate or Die and Ski or Die.

Because radness.

Jetpack for the PC.

Flashback!

Or Dune (the adventure/strategy one)!

Or Snatcher for that matter!

#31 Posted by MrKlorox (11209 posts) -
Rad Racer. Because it's a racing game developed by the studio that built the finalest of fantasies, Squaresoft. And that should be enough.
#32 Posted by HerbieBug (4212 posts) -

Also! Town & Country Surf Designs Wood & Water Rage (NES).

Because nostalgia glasses.

Shaq Fu

Also any and all games, I especially would love to see some bad survival horror games from PS1 era (and there is a lot of those!).

#35 Posted by TheFridge (95 posts) -

I say if they want a video of every game on the wiki, then they allow users to post short 5-10 minute videos. I know it won't happen, but that will make their goal more achievable.

#36 Edited by Aegon (5773 posts) -

If he really wants to log in all video games ever, then he should just go down this list in alphabetical order.

There's 36,897 games in the database.

At the rate of one game a week, he'll be done in....carry the 4....710 years.

I think he'll have to rely on the production of an iBody.

Armored Warriors, the amount of people not talking about this game is criminal. From the golden age of Capcom this game had it all, tons of customization, three player co-op, giant badass robots. If you haven't played this game, you ain't cool.

See that enemy robot? You can rip that fucker's arm off and beat them with it
#38 Posted by Pepsiman (2488 posts) -

Those Scooby-Doo games Jeff has sitting around ain't gonna cover themselves, you know!

#39 Posted by PeZ (113 posts) -

Ufouria, the Saga!

Not actually released in the US, but has a VC version. A wonderful game!

Yup, I don't think this works as a feature otherwise. If they're not games HE cares for it just turns into Jeff reading a wiki page and ending every episode with "so I guess it's cool if you like that stuff???!!"
