Far Cry 3 Opening all the map before anything else?

Anyone else thinking of going to all the radio towers before doing much else in Far Cry 3? Just wondering if for some reason I should wait for the game to take me there... What do you peoples think?

I did it and took over a few outposts because I thought it would be easier to just Fast Travel to places.
Got all the Radio towers really early on and only a few outposts because eff it, running around in the world is awesome.
