I suppose this is to be Far Cry 4's very own 'Blood Dragon' equivalent?

@yummylee: No confirmation yet but yeah totally seems that way. Would be too early to announce a numbered sequel and Ubisoft once said they liked how Blood Dragon did and would be interested in doing something similar to it.

Eh... this formula is really getting stretched thin. Unless they are actually taking this one back to the drawing board and not just using the Farcry 3 template yet again.

Somehow this doesnt seem crazy enough to warrant being a spin off like Blood Dragon.

I think this is different enough setting wise to be really interesting and fun, even if it is the Far Cry 3 formula again. 4 I had fun with but that was enough for me as far as real world setting with similar guns and that exact set up.

If they do play up the animals aspect of the open world with the dinosaurs and have very different combat, that would be interesting. If they expand the melee it could be really fun. Plus they can do more with co-op or different things.

But yeah I guess we don't know the scale of this. If it was a full game that would be interesting though. That is what I'm imagining but maybe I'm wrong.

Well they had mammoths on the cave paintings so no dinosaurs which fucking sucks.

I absolutely hated the Shangri-La stuff in Far Cry 4. I seriously hope this isn't that stuff but made into a full game.

Great! I didn't play Far Cry 4, so more Far Cry in a smaller dose presumably with an emphasis on bows 'n arrows sounds great.

Actually, come to think of it, it's kinda exactly how I went about Far Cry 3. Started with Blood Dragon and the future-bow and then went back and played Far Cry 3 proper.

Fuck their budget icon quest.

Hopefully it isn't stretched as thin as 4 was, the less bloated nature of Blood Dragon was what really made it a winner aesthetic aside.

Please let there be a Megalodon in the game. As long as there are giant sharks, I can go without dinos.

Kotaku reports it's Blood Dragon esque. I wonder if a) it's DLC, b) it's a standalone, or c) it's a standalone with an Assassin's Creed conceit of brain time travel.

I dunno, I liked Farcry 3 a bunch but had noooo desire whatsoever to play Farcry 4 because it looked like basically more of the same, and I've played all the Assassin Creed games to date.

Far Cry with dinosaurs would be rad...But Far Cry with prehistoric weapons? Eh... Maybe it'll be a time travel deal where you're packing heat? I dunno.

A dinosaur thing is EXACTLY what i want in a Far Cry game. Gimme.

Guys, remember that survey they put out a while back, where they asked about what you wanted for the next Far Cry setting...

Really curious who at Ubisoft thought a slow zoom out on a picture for 7+ hours was a good idea. You'd think after the game was "leaked" that they'd kinda spill the beans and get to the announcement trailer or whatever is gonna be at the end of this insanely slow build up.

If this is more focused on co-op (the co-op in Far Cry 4 was ace, but I really wish you could of done the story missions with a friend) and focuses on dinosaurs and hunting them and other massive animals in a prehistoric setting could be real neat. At the very least I know my buddy and I will get a real kick out of it, Far Cry 4 is some of the most fun in co-op I've had. It was the gaming equivalent of "hold my beer" and doing really, really stupid shit your co-op partner most likely had to revive you from the disastrous but amusing outcome.

Sounds good, though I hope there are no forced stealth missions as is standard in Ubisoft games. I rage quit my second playthroughs of Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, and Watch Dogs; due to the single restrictive stealth mission that appears in each.

Awww I thought it was them announcing a pseudo sequel to the console versions of the first Far Cry. The one with the awesome predator powers.

Far Cry Instincts Predator! I made so many maps... so many.

That game was the shit. Some of the maps people came up with were just insane. I remember this one map called Birth of Dog where this guy made a map of a giant naked woman and her newborn son. It's every bit as incredible as it sounds.

This is actually the Darkest of Days sequel the entire time!

That reminds me, I should go back and finish Far Cry 4.

If it's priced like Blood Dragon was, I'd be on board for it. I enjoyed BD way more than 3 at less than half the cost too.

Blood Dragon was amazing because of the dumb awesome shit it provided, if this don't have the same vibe I wont be picking it up.

Yeah if this is just a Far Cry game with a new skin minus guns I have zero interest in this. 4 was fun, but really weared on me towards the end of my semi-complitionist run.

Yeeeeah...I don't know about this. I just watched the trailer and it just seems like a boring concept. Maybe I'll be entirely wrong, but the idea of Far Cry game with just tribal dudes and no guns does not sound appealing. I mean, the community already voiced their opinions on the dinosaur idea back when FC4 came out, and pretty much everybody wanted that. I know I sure as shit did. This seems like a weak answer to that.

If I get to punch a dinosaur Zeno Clash style, i'm on board!

I think a stone age game sounds cool, but in the context of Far Cry that means no guns, no vehicles, no anything.

I'm very sick of the FarCry formula 3 was amazing because it was fresh and different but after completing 4 I got very fatigued by it to me this looks boring Farcry is becoming the new Assassins Creed for me.

This gets me crazy excited, but that may be due to my paleoanthropology background.

So no dinosaurs looks like (sabertooths and mammoths). Plus the trailer gives no idea of expanded melee or anything.

Curious what other creatures could appear in this. Giant sloths? Giant birds?
