Favorite indie developer?

I can say that Atlus and Obsidian are my favorite developers without hesitation, but I'm having a hard time coming up with my favorite indie developers... It's a toss up between Ace Team and Ice Pick Lodge, because they're both fucking insane and I appreciate insanity.

Are 1C indie? They're definitely Eastern European. Apart from that I can't really name any indie developers apart from Mojang.

I pick The Behemoth also. Alien Hominid is one of the best games I have for PS2 and Caste Crashers is one of my favorite arcade games.

I feel like everyone has to say the Behemoth, also I love Bastion, so Supergiant for sure!

Can you really like the breathe of work from a specific development team if you only played one game of theirs? The only developers that have multiple games I have played are Q-Games (PixelJunk) and The Behemoth (Alien Hominid, Castle Crashers).

I'd say ACE Team. Zeno Clash and Rock of Ages are amaaaaazing games, and Batman Doom is also pretty cool. Really excited for Zeno Clash 2.

Its funny what actually makes an independent 'indie' developer. At Develop this year Crytek won 'Best Independent Developer' which seemed crazy to me. On that note I'd have to say Valve (technically indie :D) but on more bedroom indies I really liked Gemini Rue recently, really well done point and click adventure if you like them.

Playdead. Limbo just had amazing atmosphere and a great understated story. But the thing that really stuck with me was how great the controls felt. Sure they was simply but everything just has a real weight and feel to it. It's hard to describe, but it's one of the best playing, in terms of controls, games I have ever played.

Also Limbo's implication of dualshock is amazing and it reminded me just how well such a simple function can be, which is ironic since it was originally not a Playstation game. I mean the first time you saw the Spider's leg and it rams it down the ground and the controller just started shaking, just gave me a real sense of fear and respect for this big ugly predator.

Limbo is actually one of my all time favorite games.

Everything about the production just screams quality. So even though Playdead have only made one indie game, it's just such an amazing experience for me that I can't wait for their next game.

Maybe Behemoth but Super Meat Boy is one of my favourite games I've ever played, so I'd probably have to go with Team Meat, because Isaac is awesome as well.

I've been following Giant Sparrow (The Unfinished Swan guys) for quite a while, but they haven't updated their website in about half a year.
