Articles and Posting

Can I copy Wikipedia content directly in to Giant Bomb articles?

From the Help page:
"Do not plagiarize content from other sites like Wikipedia. Giant Bomb is a unique resource."
A discussion on this topic is available at 'Giant Bomb and Wikipedia Content'.

Can I use Box Art from other sites on Giant Bomb?

The official guidelines on the usage of images are here.

Is swearing OK on Giant Bomb?

There are no rules in place on the boards just yet, but expect to see some come together soon.

How do I create a list?

To create a list, find the first game you would like to add to your list and click the 'Add to a list' button on the top right.
This will bring up a selection of options for creating a new list, or adding to an old list.

How do I add an image or a video to my forum post?

To post an image, click the second button from the right (the little scenery picture) on the toolbar when you're writing your post.
This will bring up the standard Giant Bomb image panel, where you can upload a new image, or pick one from your gallery.

Using the HTML button (far right on the toolbar) - you can add custom images using:
<img src="http://theURLtoyourimage.com" /> (?)
or embed videos. The easiest way to do this is to add the embed code which you can find on the page for any YouTube video in to the box that pops up.
This should work with any other video service which allows embedding. (?)

Profile

How do I edit the details in my profile?

Login and click your username/avatar on the top menu of the Giant Bomb page and click 'Edit My Profile' on the top right.
This will bring up an area to edit all the details in your profile. Note the tabs which allow you to change various other preferences.

How do I edit my user icon/avatar?

Firstly, follow the steps in the above question and click on the 'Set Icon' tab (Alternatively, simply click 'Change Icon' on your profile page).
This will bring you to a page with your current user icon - click on it and a box will pop up allowing you to upload a new image or use an image you have previously uploaded.
If you are having problems clicking your icon, try using Internet Explorer as this renders a box if there is an error displaying an image - you can click on this instead.
If you are having problems uploading - read the question below.

I'm trying to add a new user icon, but I'm getting a 'Image Too Small' error?

This is a problem with the image upload system at the moment.
The minimum upload size is 150x150 - but your forum avatars will be downscaled to 75x75.

Can I add a signature to my forum posts?

The forum does not currently (if ever) support signatures.

Why does PC have to share a colour with neutral?

#3 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -

I'm not too sure about that just yet (hence the ?) - if there is a different colour for PC/Neutral, I'm yet to see it.

#4 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -

Just checked the CSS file for the colours - it seems the correct PC colour is orange (which shows in article comments) - but the style for PC users in the forum is still white.
Not sure if this is a bug or a deliberate choice.

Have a section in the user profiles for what console you own and what your gamertag is.

Is there a way to delete the stuff in the 'My Feeds" section of your profile?

#9 Posted by MichaelBach (874 posts) -

Hi, in my profile in the list section. How do I add a list. More specific I would like to add a games list?

No, there doesn't look like there's a way to do that at the moment - perhaps we should have a Feature Requests thread at some point, although I guess it'd be better to wait until the Giant Bomb guys get the final version of the site out before we start asking for even more things :)
#11 Posted by Lies (3866 posts) -

Yes, you do get points for making edits and changing adding details. I got like 2 points for changing the publisher info on a game, and I got 6 for making a fairly large addition to the Master Chief entry.

On a game's page you should be able to find an "add to collection" link.

Thanks all for your questions/confirmations - I've been updating the FAQ with anything that's useful.

Thank you for this very informative and useful thread. ^_^

EDIT: That reminds me, does the forum currently support smilies ? I haven't seen any yet.

#15 Posted by TheBeast (1931 posts) -

Nope - it doesn't support them at the moment - maybe it will in the future but it does like really clean and tidy without them :)

Go to a game's page. Look at top right corner and hit add to list.

Clubvodka: See the 'How do I create a list?' question in the FAQ above.

Updated with a few more questions.

#24 Posted by Godzilla_Sushi (1084 posts) -

Ahem, so I am fully aware that I could be in the wrong place for this question but, hopefully someone else had the same problem.

For my first review I posted it and completely missed the star rating. I guess it didn't load in before I passed over it. So I now have a very positive review of Forza 2 with no stars!

Can this be fixed by an edit/moderator? Or am I destined to look like a moron forever?

:(

#25 Posted by JonDavis (611 posts) -

I'm sure they'll put in an edit/delete review thing eventually.

Hi there, sometimes the site darkens out the options when you try and add to a list, I know you can just create custom lists but there is already a collection, wish and fav list there.. I want to add to the collection list but for some reason it's never available to me, it's always darkened out and not selectable. Is there a reason for this?

#27 Posted by Pic0 (1 posts) -

Is there a way to sort a list?

#28 Posted by LordAndrew (14417 posts) -

Not currently, no. You'll have to empty the list and re-add the items in the order you want.

Time to bring life back to this thread. Has there been any movement in regards to having forum signatures? I realize it was an emphatic 'no' to begin with, but..well... I have a great one and I want to use it. Just asking :)
