After max 2 hours playing I get fed up with it.
The only game I lost track of time was Civilization.
What about you? Can you - really - be addicted to games?

Yeah. I said "I think I'll just play 30 minutes of MGS4".

I ended up spending 14 hours. :|

The same applies to plenty of other games. I have to play some like it's a drug. Addicting games don't want to make you put it down.

umm fuck yes.

Some classic examples of addicting games include WoW, Diablo and Counterstrike.
I would say at least 50% of people playing these are classified as addicted.

Addiction can be applied to anything. I personally have never seen anyone addicted to a game (aside from Blizzard's games). I usually only play a few hours at a time tops and take a break.
Speaking of which.. I think there was an episode of Intervention where some guy had an addiction to video games. From what little of what I watched of it the guy seemed like a real nutjob.

Speaking of addiction, does anyone ever really follow the stop and rest every hour stuff or when your hands feel hurt stuff the games themselves keep warning you about? I know i just say screw it because i'm too addicted.

No, unless you're a moron. I don't think Jodie Foster naked in my bedroom could keep me from eating food every once in a while.

it depends who you ask.

Jack Thompson
would say:

Yes, games are addictive, they suck. games kill you. the stab you.

Others would say:
No, just keep yourself to limit.

Physiological addiction, no.
but yeah, it's easy to just need to play after a while.
Good example is Diablo. For a while the game got so repetitive I hated it, but I couldnt stop.

I believe people can become addicted to gaming, there's already been incidents of such cases. I remember hearing about a couple in Korea that left their baby at home to go to an internet cafe to play World of Warcraft and the baby died... Pretty scary stuff. I actually have my own personally theory on addiction to anything, I think if people weren't addicted to a certain thing, they would become addicted to something else. Some people just want to escape reality by any means necessary.

There's that story about the guy who played non-stop for 72 hours in either China or Korea and died. I think it was WoW, looks like he over-raided

I'll see if video game addiction is listed in the DSM IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) to see if it's "officially" addicting. But I thin kyou can get addicting to just about everything, except things you can't do more than once (like dying)

Yes, gaming is an highly addictive hobby that many gamers should not take lightly. There have been a few people that have died from playing videogames, some people can't seem to know when to take a break.

Chinese gamer dies from a 3 day gaming marathon.

I had a similar experience.    I played four hours straight of MGS4 and that is very unusual for me.   Usually after two hours I need a break and do something else for a little bit.

I played Uncharted pretty much 10 hours or so straight. XD

It was like a book, or a movie, I was itching to know more and more... plus it was just hella fun.

I think we can deduce a couple of things from this thread:
1. Addiction can be attributed to most obsessive behaviour
2. Korean people are nuts
