Has Sony announced anything about price points for the downloadable games? They should be cheaper bc of lack of publishing/distributing costs. Think they'll pass this on to consumers?

They'll be the same price as retail, because they can do that.

That's what we want, but if current downloadable retail games represent where this is going then...

Burnout Paradise is the same as a new physical copy as well as on PSN, and the same seems to be with the Xbox 360 games if Mass Effect for $20 is a reality.

@EpicSteve: You're probably right, Sony needs all the money it can get. I think at $40 USD portable games are too expensive in the first place.

They will be the same price as retail. Hell, they will even stay at higher prices longer than retail. Sony and other companies are being held by the testicles by the bloated retail industry, and Digital Distribution will never proliferate until they embolden their cojones with steel and dare to defy GameStop and Walmart and Target and Best Buy. The PSN Store is a bitch like that.

@Jayge: yeah, even though M$ is selling some games like Mass Effect for $20, isn't that how much it goes for used at gamestop? I agree with you that these new digital distribution attempts from M$ and Sony seem more like an answer to the used games industry rather than a real desire to operate within a new business model

No, they will be at the same price, but the content will have more than the UMD release, and this way idiots like me will buy it.
