Gothic 3, even though it is a PC game. It sometimes took me 3-5minutes to load a game.

Ugh, some of the elevator waits in Mass Effect were brutal and Oblivion was often tediously long, but from my recollection KOTOR on the original Xbox was the worst.  It had some really long-ass load times.

  • Far Cry 2
  • Forza Motorsport 3
  • Juiced Eliminator

Three games I can think of right now that had terrible loading times. Far Cry 2 takes at least two minutes to load from the menu into the game on the Xbox 360, Forza Motorsport 3 takes quite a while to load races, and Juiced: Eliminator on the PSP was one of the longest loading games I've ever played. It really did take about 90 seconds to load a similar length race. And it wasn't even an entertaining race, because all you had to do was get your team in cars with exclusive parts and watch as you win everything.

You said no PC games, but this list would be sorely lacking with the original version of The Witcher. Excessively long load times were one of the main reasons they released the enhanced edition. We're talking upwards of half-a-minute to load the interior of a one room house.

Forza 3 has some pretty bad load times. Wanna race?! Press A, goto the bathroom, go watch a movie, file your taxes, detail your car, come back and it should be about ready. Seriously though, even with the game installed, it still takes about 20+ seconds.

The Last Remnant on Xbox 360.  Really long load times and it lagged constantly during battles.

Easily the worst is the first MotorStorm for PS3.

There is a 5 - 10 second load in between cars on the vehicle select screen. And that is just the beginning. Give it a try, you will see what I mean.

Twin kingdom Valley on the BBC Micro, I think it was loaded at 5A.. using Hexadecimal loading numbering. Everytime you moved location it also draws each screen line by line which can take a couple of minuits as you see the scene materialise in front of you.

Mass Effect 2 not on the HDD (360) is pretty fucking brutal - we're talking 5-10 seconds every time you change areas or load up a save.
Might not seem all that long, but for a game that came out THIS year it seems absurd to me, waaaaay worse than any elevator from ME1.

Yes, the main room in the Normandy is the worst, which ironically is the place you load the most. That was my only gripe about Mass Effect 2 - the horrible loading times.

Most of the previous Smackdown games took forever to load anything, especially on the PSP. Horrible load times.

Final Fantasy Anthologies and Chronicles would be the ones that stick out in my mind. Going from games on the SNES that had absolutely no load times to having load times for everything from entering buildings to opening up the menus to going into combat was super frustrating.

I came in to say Jade Empire.  The arena was the worst.  Load to enter, load to leave, repeat like 10 times.

I would say that KOTOR was not near as bad as Oblivion or Mass Effect. I still play KOTOR quite regularly so I'm familiar with it and both load times with the other two are worse in my opinion.

I'd say the original Resident Evil probably gets that. Honorable mentions go out to Persona, since it loaded constantly but not for too long.

MGS4 was bad, Heavy Rain's were definintely annoying, but what I hated the most was Morrowind after you get a good chunk of items and do lots of stuff. That game takes so long to load the longer you play the game and the more items you get, not only the loading times get bad the time it takes to save the game was atrocious.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 had horrible load times.  What's even worse is that you can't even install it to the 360's hard drive.

It actually increased with the number of Savegames I think.

I was quicksaving all the time and had to delete all the savegames I didn't need every now and then...

Unless my copy, when I rented it, was messed up or something, then Viking.
I barely remember this game, though, so it may have been some dream...(or nightmare).

EDIT: Viking for PS2. I think it was called Viking...

You guy's are all too young. You need to go back to when games came on casette tapes to find the longest load times.

I remember the Sam Coupé tape version of Defenders of the Earth took about 50 minutes to load (If you were lucky it didn't crash during loading)!

Did Deus Ex: Human Revolution initially have super-long load times? I remember that it did on PC before they released a fix, but was it the same way on consoles, too?
