Agreed. Sometime I say that the GB video comments are way worse; they get personal and nasty. It's a product of Giant Bomb's structure of having their editorial staff (and even some of their engineering and video crew) be up front and center. It lets trolls have a specific target to rage against compared to sites like IGN and Gamespot where people just attack the entire site in general.
@blu3v3nom07: YouTube comments are the worst. Go to any video and just glance at the comments, and you're almost guaranteed to see the N word or something equally disgusting.
Lately? That's how it's always been, unless they've gotten significantly worse since I left 3 years ago.
But there's no way they can be as bad as the comments on GS or IGN's Youtube videos. I thought Gamespot were real tightwads about what you say on the site.
Gamespot and IGN are more well-known and popular sites than Giant Bomb. As such, they tend to attract the lowest common denominators more frequently. Also, this site has mods.
Hilariously, Gamespot has taken advantage of its terrible user base with Feedbackula.
I think it's the same all around, it just depends on how many people visit the site. I comment on GameSpot frequently, and yes, there are a lot of idiotic people, but I think the same goes for here as well, except that people here seem to know how to type at least somewhat well.

Agreed, but I think DmC was a victim of some irrational hate all around, not just on Giant Bomb. The Patrick hate is something that I don't really understand though, seems like a cool guy even if some of his articles aren't great.
No, in fact I avoid reading comments from sites I don't bother with.
Always consider this self inflicted behavior. It is akin to those who open an old tuperware box and go "Oh my god! I can't believe how rotten this is. Do you want to smell?"
I cannot understand the mentality of those that purposely set out to use homophobic, misogynistic or racist language, and I understand even less how those that use it feel that they are entitled to take the moral high-ground when called on it.
I don't really see any how any good can come of this discussion. The Internet is chock full of scuzzy people, so let's try to be the better man/woman/androgynous mushroom growing on my bathroom towels/Bigfoot, and let's all be nice to each other. That includes not calling out sister sites to Giant Bomb for their comments section, mmmkay?
