GB Suber's against splitting the bombcast

Post here if your a Suber and you want everyone to have the same access to the podcast. I really feel strongly about letting everyone have equal access to the bombcast. This has probably been posted before and i don't begrudge any mod from locking it.

You've subscribed and you're against the Bombcast being split? 
 
If you really felt so strongly about it, you would have spoken with your money, as it is you have supported this kind of thing.

Wow are we going to have animosity towards the people who are helping keep GB what it is because of the whole bombcast thing? Ugh. 
 
I also agree. I subbed to give the guys the cash and for the T-Shirt. Honestly I would've done it even if I weren't getting anything. Just wanted to support them. I don't want the community torn asunder by something so silly. I hope they put it back together so people will calm down.

It would be nice if the bombcast would stay the same but 5 bucks a month is not a heavy fee.

I'm against it. I mean, I like the fact that the guys want more money, but it isn't like their job is hard. Especially when you compare it to some other jobs.

I strongly disagree with the label 'hypocrite'. Are you saying that GiantBomb, for all the good things it's done over the years, isn't worth your money?
 
The Bombcast split is wrong, but that doesn't mean the subscription model in itself is. Knowing Giantbomb, the split won't last for more than a week, if it comes at all.
 
They can't be so naive that people won't pirate the (complete) Bombcast if you put a lock on it.

I agree with the OP.  Free, full Bombcast for all is the only way to go.
 
The Bombcast is the best thing about Giant Bomb, and they shouldn't mess with it. 
 
Gizmo, they need money to run the Bombcast, as it's a big investment with no quantifiable return.  I get that.  What we are saying is that let US subscribers supplement that cost for people like you.  I can't believe you're being a jerk to the people who want to pay for a better experience for you.

If they had included Paypal as an option from the beginning, I'm sure they would've been well over the 5k sub mark by now.
 
But yeah, 5 bucks is nothing, and I'm more than happy with my annual sub just to show my thanks.

Actually not true. There are other reasons to subscribe and they like those features. It's not as black and white as deciding if you like this bombcast split.  "

I disagree, giant bomb does a great job with this site as a whole.
 
The podcast, content, and community events are why I come to this site and support them.  Five bucks is nothing to keep supporting great content on not just giant bomb's site but tested, screened, and comic vine. I mean I can't believe this is even a issue!  You can buy one less DLC costume pack, beer, or  just skip a lunch once month to get access to the 2 hour bombcast every week,  live shows every Friday, and other exclusive community events. I'm not trying to force anyone to go out and subscribe but I'm just saying 5 bucks to help support these guys shouldn't be that hard of a choice.

I payed to help support Giant Bomb and Whiskey Media but I would rather have the bombcast remain the same for everyone. I don't think I'm being a hypocrite because of that.

You can be a Subber and still be against the splitting of the bombcast. I subbed to help out the site and like Ryan said "buy their freedom" in a way. I rather the giant bomb guys get to cover and do stories on what they're interested in and entertain us rather than be a slave to advertising.
 
The split bombcast is just a bad idea in my opinion. Subscriber or not it'll create weird riffs where people will have disjointed discussions on the forums, there will be a weird lag in relevent emails, and the rss feed.... blech

I think they should keep the bombcast 100% free for everyone but even if i didn't subscribe i wouldn't be that devastated since the average podcast is 40-60 minutes anyways it just spreads it out for people besides even if they don't hit the 5k mark we all know it will eventually go free, peoples lives won't be ruined from a split podcast.

tbh............. splitting up the bombcast sounds retarded. is the tested/screened casts going to be split too?

i could never say a bad word about the giant bomb guys, and i understand that they are trying to gauge what the community is willing to pay for. but isnt the point of the whiskeymedia subs to be giving MORE to the users? with this its as if your getting penalized for not subbing. SURE your getting all the content u would normally.. but the bombcast is sacred, and they shouldnt be using it as bait.

but whatever, i paid for my yearly sub + international shipping fees and would have paid twice that. WM sites are fucking awesome, and whilst i only use giantbomb/screened/tested, knowing that my contribution is going towards more craziness. it warms my heart.
 
but splitting up the bombcast..... please dont do that.
4.4k subs is a tremendous effort. and i bet a HUGE percentage of that is yearly subbers like myself.

I subscribed to help hit the 5k to hopefully keep the bombcast free and intact.

I subbed because I think Giant Bomb is the only worthy game site on the interwebs that deserve my money, and as a reward I'm getting: 1) Tshirt, 2) Introduction to other awesome Whiskey sites which I didn't really ever go to before yesterday, and 3) I live on my phone and love the mobile sites pretty hard.

These guys have proven time and time again that they have a strong sense of moral integrity and that they 'get' their userbase. I would be shocked if the split remains after all the visible backlash the idea generated.  To be honest, it seems to have stopped people from subscribing, more than it has encouraged. I'd decided to take the plunge before the feature set was even announced, so the bombcast didn't even factor into it here and judging from responses on various threads, most people who opted in did so for similar reasons. "
